New on Resy: Queen’s English, Little Pearl, Michele’s, and More

This whimsical tasting menu restaurant from the same team behind Rose’s Luxury and Pineapple and Pearls is a delightful dinner party unlike any other. Chef Aaron Silverman’s deft cooking is modern, seasonal, and is super soigne — in a very approachable way. Case in point: the “angel eggs” at the very start of your tasting menu.

Chef Henji Cheung’s playful and creative takes on Cantonese cuisine (think XO mushroom egg noodles or foie gras and chicken shumai dumplings) pair perfectly with his wife and partner Sarah Thompson’s extensive natural wine program. Dining here is always a delight.

Here, he goes à la carte, offering an eclectic array of French-influenced American dishes with an occasional New Orleans accent. Citronelle veteran David Deshaies and his team rethink Italian classics and create new ones of their own at this spectacular trendsetter, with its double-high ceilings, Murano glass chandeliers, and attention-grabbing wood-fired grill. The signature 40-layer lasagna with truffle mornay and short rib sugo is a must.

Maria Bastasch redefines the cocktail experience with this playfully furnished pop-up at the Columbia Room. Drinks are made with herbs, spices, and other “apothecary” ingredients; there’s a profusion of non-alcoholic choices; and the bar food includes “rainbow” nachos made with mushroom chili and cashew crema.

Bar star Derek Brown pushes the envelope at his redesigned temple to the art of the cocktail (including low- and no-alcohol varieties). The long, curving bar faces an immense tile mural showing medieval alchemists — the original bartenders? — at work, and the adjacent Tasting Room offers fixed-price menus that just might feature algae and insects.

Tex-Mex and Southwestern fare spice up Dupont Circle at this sizzling desert-themed gem from the group behind Gatsby, Mi Vida, and other local hotspots. The “La Fiesta” meal option lets diners sample a range of the kitchen’s specialties — and the extensive tequila and mezcal list is a joyous ode to Mexico’s signature spirits.

Prepare to be dazzled by this stylish, two-level reimagining of the classic Deco-era diner. Opulent leather booths and a 1920s-themed mural are part of the setting for the wide-ranging all-American menu. Daily Blue Plate specials include fried chicken, fish and chips, and lasagna, and you can crown your meal with pie à la mode.

Sibling to the Super Francs in Chicago and Denver, this convivial, warmly furnished Embassy Row “Tuscan steakhouse and spritz bar” might just become your go-to place for easy-going Italian fare (and not just steaks). And here’s good news for vegans: almost half the menu can be made without animal products.

Celebrity broadcasters, cabinet secretaries, and even an ex-president or two are among the regulars at this elegantly stylish Italian hot spot. The upscale menu includes housemade pastas named for fashion designers (Spaghetti Kiton, Pappardelle Prada), the beef is wagyu, and the people-watching is almost as delicious as the cooking.

You’ll want to become a regular — if you aren’t already — at this Dupont Circle classic, owned by the same family since 1950. Salads, burgers, pasta, pizza, steak — if you can’t find something you like on the menu, you’re probably not hungry.

If you’re not a vegan, this just might be the place that nudges you in that direction. Enjoy a sausage, egg, and cheese croissant; a hot pastrami sandwich; even a charcuterie platter — all of it plant-based. Pro tip: don’t miss dessert. The pastry chefs here were two-time champions on “Cupcake Wars.”

D.C. nightlife is heating up, and this glittering Dupont Circle supper club and restaurant — on the former premises of a famed 1930s speakeasy (and sharing its name) — is part of the reason. Come for luminous cocktails, a Mediterranean menu, and dancing long into the night.
