The August Hit List: Boathouse at the Riverside, Luca Osteria, La Santa Taqueria, and More

The bright, bold flavors of Mexican cuisine that we all love are found in every bite. Translating to ‘home’ in Japanese, Uchi has made itself a part of Miami’s culinary scene as the first Uchi outside of its homeland, Texas. Created by James Beard award-wining chef Tyson Cole, this sushi haven offers a six or ten-course omakase menu alongside sushi, sashimi, tempura, small bites like maguro and goat cheese or pork belly, and maki rolls.

Guess who’s back? The bar and restaurant, which was operating as Sunny’s Someday Steakhouse in Little River, has returned to its original downtown location. Check out its new redesigned dining room and new outdoor area while you sip on favorites like the Very Strong Baby with rum, strawberry Campari, vermouth, and pear eau-de-vie. You’ll find classic dishes along with a sprinkle of new ones on the menu like the housemade cacio e pepe and duck paccheri.

The resorted vintage furniture and eclectic décor at this café give off major bohemian vibes. You’ll feel comfortable and relaxed as you sip on one of their refreshing cocktails like the namesake margarita made with tequila, green tea syrup, cilantro, lime, and pineapple juice. Serving comfort food with a twist, here bone marrow, beef tartare sliders, pappardelle with duck ragu, and green papaya salad share the menu with chicken pot pie, shrimp and grits, and ramen. It also has an outdoor pup-friendly patio that’s perfect for an afternoon brunch.
