Enjoy a multi-course tasting menu at Kim Alter’s elegant fine dining altar, Nightbird. Wine pairings are optional, as is the champagne supplement, but starting (or ending) with a cocktail at the adjacent Linden Room is the pro move.

Sitting at the bar housed in an old 1870s Victorian sipping on a strong Belgian beer feels appropriate. But there’s also a long list of other local craft specialty brews, as well as cocktails and spirits if that fits your mood, too.

Mama is back, and better than ever. The red sauce joint from the Bay Grape duo of wife-and-husband Stevie Stacionis and Josiah Baldivino has returned, with a little help from San Francisco’s celebrated Hi Neighbor Group (Trestle, Corridor, The Vault).

Ravi Kapur’s heritage-driven cuisine is back in action, bringing big-time flavor to Liholiho Yacht Club’s 18th Street outpost in the Mission. Expect big flavor combinations in the form of smoked shortrib poppyseed baos, grilled avocado crispy onigri, and katsu with kimchi. Bonus: There’s a stunningly gorgeous rooftop too. Set that Notify.

Soul food served on a biscuit crust pizza? Sign us up. Think cornmeal fried oysters with collard greens and tomato sauce; cornmeal chicken nuggets with mashed potatoes, green beans, and mac cheese sauce; and hot cauliflower with cheddar cheese and black garlic ranch. There are also vegan options — as well as soul plates, too.

Happy hour runs 3pm to 5pm everyday, and features $6 smash burgers and $7 glasses of wine. But there are also cocktails and pizza on the patio too at this eclectic bar-driven restaurant in Mill Valley.

From fettuccini alfredo to gnocchi al pesto to spaghetti alla carbonara, the Italian hits have been playing at Osteria Toscana in Palo Alto since 1986. Grab a bottle of Chianti, take your time, and stay a while.

If two-for-one oysters during happy hour doesn’t make you happy, consider loading up on the $7 well drinks.  There’s also pizza, cocktails, and a large wine list for you to linger over.
