Resy’s Guide to Takeaway and Delivery in London

This outstanding Middle Eastern restaurant is offering at-home mezze kits via Dishpatch, as well as a shorter weekly-changing menu for delivery via Slerp. 

Middle Eastern BBQ specialists Berber & Q are offering the greatest hits from their menu for collection and delivery within 3.5 miles of their Haggerston restaurant. Dishes available include all the mezze, shawarma rice boxes, rotisserie chicken, an Israeli brunch kit for two, and much more. Available Tuesday to Sunday — orders via Slerp. 

Naughty Piglets in Brixton is accepting takeaway orders on a weekly-changing set menu of homely French fare (think beef with red wine dauphinoise, or chocolate mousse with milk crumble and salted caramel), burgers at lunchtimes, and a stacked list of natural wines and beers. Despite lockdown, this neighbourhood Italian restaurant continues to thrive under the leadership of chef Mitshel Ibrahim (The Dairy, Clove Club). As well as excellent hand-rolled pastas and sauces, expect superb Italian wines, provisions, and Ibrahim’s outstanding desserts (including one of the city’s best tiramisus). As well as an online bottle shop (natural wines aplenty) delivering nationwide, this Tel Aviv-inspired gem offers one of London’s best delivery experiences via Slerp — fresh mezze bursting with flavour, soft challah bread, and comforting (but still restaurant quality) plates like tender kofte in tomato sauce, or whole roast cauliflower drizzled in tahini. 

Filipino at heart, this Camden staple also draws from Korea, Malaysia, and a broader Asian larder to create thrilling dishes. A delivery-proof menu (for collection, or through Deliveroo and Uber Eats) is on offer, with dishes like vegan laksa and rendang sidling up to Pinoy classics like beef sinigang or grilled chicken inasal with a soy-tamarind glaze and a fragrant herb salad. While the main restaurant is closed, Trullo’s next door deli and bakery is still going strong, with hand rolled pasta, sauces, fresh produce, pastries, cook-at-home meals and plenty more available. The restaurant’s viennoiserie is special, with many making the pilgrimage to Highbury for their carbonara swirls that come liberally sprinkled with fresh parmesan. More info here.

Haya in Notting Hill is offering its Tel Aviv-inspired Mediterranean dishes for delivery. Expect  seasonal salads, hearty mains like harissa chicken thighs, sabich sandwiches, and their cult deep-fried halloumi fingers. Order via Deliveroo.

Trangallan in Newington Green is offering its Spanish menu and groceries (via Natoora) for collection and local delivery via Slerp. Expect dishes like a properly-made tortilla, seasonal paellas, and restorative soups and stews. Order via their website.

This excellent Stokey local stands out even among the heaving options on Church Street; a larder full of outstanding provisions, wine, cocktails and fresh produce is bettered only by a bevy of restaurant-quality options available for collection or delivery, such as homemade pies, comforting dauphinois, Sunday roasts, and puddings. An East End institution, this convivial bistro has always been known for comfort food with flair, something it found success with under the first lockdown. It’s now delivering straight-up roast chickens with cocktails, sides, and wildly moreish sauces via Chic Hen, its new delivery brand, Thursdays to Sundays. Order here. 

As well as a daily-changing set menu for takeaway and delivery from its Stoke Newington storefront, rising star chef Marcelo Rodrigues has also set up a rotisserie with beautifully roasted chickens perked up with gentle peri-peri spice for collection. Pick up a bottle of wine from their deep list to enjoy with your dinner. 

This vegan taco spots’ DIY nacho and taco kits have been flying off the shelves, and with good reason. Pick from fully loaded boxes, plus individual add-ons like vegan al pastor, vegan cheeseburger, and more. Click and collect, or order via Uber Eats. 

Borough Market is still open, and it’s an opportunity to visit this chic modern bistro for bottles of natural wine, wood-fired sourdough pizzas, desserts and small plates like aged beef arancini, or sumptuous delica pumpkin with hazelnut and dandelion. This beloved bistro and wine bar is delivering finish-at-home dinner kits prepared by chef Allegra McEvedy, like a comforting cassoulet with Toulouse sausage and duck confit, winter minestrone. One of London’s most exciting chefs in the arena of fine dining, James Cochrane proved his chops at the casual game with Around The Cluck, an unpretentious — but definitely first-rate — fried chicken sandwich pivot. A short-but-sweet menu of wings and aforementioned burgers are about as good as it gets, with astonishing sauces and sides the cherry on top. Order here.

This slick, contemporary Cantonese favourite has put together a covetable (and highly accessible) char siu pork afternoon tea kit, complete with fluffy steamed buns and smokey-sweet Iberico char siu. Just add your favourite tea. Click and collect from the restaurant, or order via Slerp. 

One of South London’s most wildly popular restaurants, this Taiwanese gua bao specialist (and its sibling, Daddy Bao) are offering a short-but-sweet menu of steamed buns (with a variety of fillings), dumplings, sides, and curries for collection or delivery via Deliveroo or Uber Eats. 

Nick Bramham’s perfectly-judged cooking has made Quality Wines a staple among the city’s food cognoscenti since opening, and Arrosto, a new offshoot focusing on Italian-style roast chicken, dripping potatoes, and homemade gelato, is one to go out of your way for. In particular, the arrosticini (skewers) approach perfection, while a tribute to the legendary Zuni Cafe chicken salad is a treat in every sense. Order here. 

Easily one of London’s best southern-style barbecue restaurants, this Shoreditch institution offers both takeaway and delivery to selected London postcodes of its signature dishes, plus nationwide delivery of its brisket and ribs by the pound, DIY bun kits, and more. 

Both Gunpowder’s Spitalfields and Tower Bridge sites are delivering DIY kits across the UK for their critically-acclaimed Kashmiri lamb chops, tandoori chicken, and vindaloo pork ribs. Locals can also order local delivery of their ready-to-eat menu.  

It isn’t often that one of Soho’s best restaurants offers its low-key black book for delivery, and it’s a rare opportunity those in the know will want to capitalise on. Additionally, excellent crisp, thin-crust pizzas with toppings like wild mushrooms and fontina, or squash with burrata and kala trapanese always go down a treat. Order via Big Night. 

This cult East London restaurant has become a delivery favourite for chef Tom Anglesea’s creative bistro cooking, a marked upgrade from the majority of restaurant takeout. Pork or vegetable dumplings, smoked eel and potato salad, and strawberry and elderflower sponge cake are a few of the dishes you can expect; from week of November 16th, via Big Night.

This upscale fishmonger-slash-seafood bar has the distinction of being led by one of Britain’s finest chefs in Leo Carreira. He and his team are offering both ready-to-eat and finish-at-home kits of dishes, like high-grade sashimi and chirashi platters, or a sublime halibut with spicy-sour sauce and king oyster mushroom, or turbot with truffles and pumpkin seed dressing. Sunshine in a box, Aussie chef Bill Granger’s new Granger & Go takeaway and delivery menu is a perfect antidote for the winter blues. Full Aussie brunches (including their famous ricotta hotcakes), salads, and satisfying, comforting dishes (the schnitzel and shrimp burger are excellent) make for an any-time treat. Some of the most special vegan and vegetarian cuisine in the capital comes courtesy of chef Rishim Sachdeva, who opened Tendril mid-2020 and has pivoted to sourcing, preparing, and delivering his outstanding dishes to each guest personally. A frequently changing menu could feature crisp zucchini fritters with cream cheese and turmeric, or a hearty stew of puy lentils and cabbage with hot sauce and crispy shallots. A fixture with the Bermondsey Street crowd, this neighbourhood Thai restaurant – run by trio of siblings – is offering their entire a la carte menu for delivery or pickup via Deliveroo, or weekly-changing at-home boxes loaded with nourishing Thai salads, soups, curries, and desserts for delivery each Wednesday for addresses in zones 1-5. Sandia Chang (co-founder of the two Michelin starred Kitchen Table) is renowned for her palate and approach to hospitality, and this playfulness translates to Bubbledogs’ delivery offerings. Simple but effective, the restaurant’s easy-to-assemble kits features gourmet hot dogs for two, tater tots, plus a bottle of Bubbledogs‘ own rosé Champagne – perfectly for a fabulously low-key celebration. You’ll have to source your own fancy stemware, though.

A butcher’s shop from the outside, Hill & Szrok also does a fine line in gourmet at-home foods for enthusiastic epicures via their online shop, but it’s the daily-changing special at lunchtimes – a fine steak sandwich, for example, or a hefty double cheeseburger that ranks among the city’s finest – that make it stand out. Few things are worth splurging on like great sushi. This Bethnal Green gem is worth a look for a big night in; it’s worth going in on the 55-piece sushi platter for two (with a mix of classic nigiri and contemporary rolls), or an omakase set for two, with four paired cocktails to share. Adored for its elegant, seasonal Greek cooking and superb wines, this Fitzrovia standout is offering both finish-at-home kits with wine (via Supper), and an a la carte menu for local delivery or pickup. With a seasonal, comforting cooking style and some serious pedigree (chef Joe Fox came up at Petersham Nurseries), this restaurant within the Whitechapel Gallery has brought smiles aplenty throughout East London. Its now-legendary set menus require minimal prep, and include sublime dishes like potted shrimp dumplings, terrine of pork and pistachio, and Basque cheesecake with Yorkshire rhubarb. Focusing on plant-based, organic produce, this popular Notting Hill eatery is delivering a host of vegan and vegetarian dishes from its Westbourne Grove home.
