The January Hit List: Sune, Donia, Mambow, and More

By

It’s a new year, and if you haven’t already resolved to tick off all the spots from last year that you didn’t make it to, we’re afraid to say that your personal Hit List should have expanded due to the flurry of excellent new restaurants that arrived at the tail end of 2023.

There’s Donia and Sune, of course, from the juggernaut Maginhawa restaurant group and legendary somm Honey Spencer respectively, but Hackney has had a surplus of quality with arrivals like Dalla and Abby Lee’s Mambow. Meanwhile, Yuki Bar in London Fields looks likely to be the industry hangout for much of 2024 — sort of a Winemakers, but make it east London — and that isn’t even to mention offshoots of popular institutions like Bar Lina and Bar Levan.

Finally, don’t miss out on Poon’s Wontoneria’s mini-series of restorative Chinese feasts in January, with the kind of warming and restorative spread that you might conceivably want to leave the house for. Here’s your January Hit List.
