The September Hit List: Lyla Lila, Secreto, Floataway Cafe, and More

A taste of Southern Europe is what you’ll get at Midtown’s Lyla Lila, a joint collaboration from chef Craig Richards and Billy Streck. Italian fare truly shines on this eatery’s menu, such as crispy duck lasagna; Wagyu beef and black truffle ravioli; and wood-grilled octopus.

Secreto Southern Kitchen, with locations in both Brookhaven and Alpharetta, has Southern eats ripe for the taking. Get favorites like fried green tomatoes, shrimp and grits, or fried chicken. For new spin on classics, try the truffle deviled eggs topped with prosciutto or the warm pimento paired with freshly baked flatbread.

Atlanta restaurant group Star Provisions brings Floataway Cafe, a new restaurant steps away from Emory Village. A hodgepodge of Italian, French and Mediterranean flavors and influences, menu options include a watermelon salad with mint, cucumbers and feta; blue crab fritters; or a corn, cherry tomato and basil pizza.

Wander into Vista Vibes Restaurant in Tucker any day of the week and you’re sure to hear jazz tunes drifting throughout the space. Setting a vibe and serving up unforgettable cocktails is exactly the ethos here. Menu items run the full gamut of Southern faves; think fried chicken, deviled eggs, crab cakes, chicken pot pie, meatloaf. Perhaps one of the Decatur Square’s staple restaurants, Cafe Lily has been open since 1999. In the style of a Mediterranean-style bistro, you’ll find a variety of pastas, gyros, salad nicoise and Prince Edward Island mussels. Wander to Lapeer Seafood Market north of Atlanta in Alpharetta for a taste of the sea. Owner Louis Soon’s vision was to translate his love of the water, with his world travels as ultimate inspiration. The result is a menu that has touches of Caribbean and Asian flair: ceviche, grilled mahi mahi with a miso tamarind glaze, jerk chicken, lobster rolls.

The restaurant that has dubbed their chicken pho “the best in the world” has recently opened a second location in Duluth. The menu at this latest Pho Ga Tony location remains unchanged — a selection of chicken dishes and soups, including the famous pho.
