New Year’s Eve in LA: Where to Count Down to 2019

It’s the first New Year’s Eve for this stunning new kid on the block, and chef Jessica Largey is pulling out all the stops, with a decadent nine-course fine dining masterpiece.

Menu Highlights: caviar with celery root cream, aged duck with matsutake mushrooms, white truffle pasta supplement.
Price: $195 with the option to add a beverage pairing.

Ring in 2019 right with a five-course, family-style tasting menu from the Majordōmo team. After all, there’s really no better time to indulge in the restaurant’s luxurious bites and large-format dishes.

Menu Highlights: Santa Barbara uni with tofu and yuzu; Dungeness crab lo mein; smoked coppa ssäm with kimchi beans, Thao’s greens, and chili jam.
Price: $95.

Dinner at Felix on December 31st will be “an evening in Piedmont—Italy’s most decadent region.” That means several courses paired with wine and, if you’re so inclined, white truffles.

Price: $225 for four courses and a wine pairing; $295 for five courses, a wine pairing, and white truffles.

Chef de cuisine Andy Doubrava and executive chef Jeremy Fox have crafted a four-course, family-style feast that will showcase cultural staples culled from traditional New Year’s Eve celebrations—all comprised of the freshest seasonal produce and goods from year-long preservation projects.

Menu Highlights: RC-style Hoppin’ John (Carolina peas and rice); Flannery’s dry-aged strip loin; Liberty duck, foie gras, and black truffle terrine.
Price: $135, plus $65 for the wine pairing or $30 for a non-alcoholic cocktail pairing.

Chef Bryant Ng is dishing out a one-night-only, family-style prix fixe of his signature offerings (read: twists on Chinese-American classics), plus a few Cassia menu favorites for good measure.

Menu Highlights: “Hainan chicken” egg rolls, “Typhoon Shelter” (grilled lobster, toasted breadcrumbs, lobster roe, garlic, fermented black beans, dried chiles, scallion), yuzu custard.
Price: $155.

This immersive tasting menu restaurant is calling the early seating—where they’ll serve an abridged version of their current, seasonal offering—“pre-party dinner” while the later seating will include surprises from chef Dave Beran and a midnight Champagne toast.

Price: $195 for pre-party dinner, $295 for NYE dinner.

Close out 2018 with a glass of sparkling followed by a sensational seven-course meal at Shibumi. Because it’s New Year’s, caviar and Miyazaki Wagyu beef supplements will be available, and you’d be correct to partake.

Menu Highlights: warm egg tofu with uni and ikura caviar, sashimi of the moment, soba ice cream with fresh mochi.
Price: $125.

Chef Teresa Moñtano is offering a special five-course dinner with the option to include a wine pairing and, for those who linger close to midnight, late-night tapas and specialty cocktails into the new year.

Price: $75.

Having opened in early 2018, this New Year’s Eve is the NoMad’s first, so they’re throwing a massive cocktail party—natch. For guests, that means access to an open premium bar, food stations, and entertainment by way of a brass band and live DJ. All proceeds are being donated to Chrysalis, a non-profit organization that focuses on job placement for the homeless community in DTLA.

Menu Highlights: raw bar, fried chicken, specialty cocktails.
Price: $135.

Where better to celebrate the bubbly-filled holiday than an intimate restaurant-meets-wine bar that knows a thing or two about Champagne? Pick your poison: three courses or five, complimentary glass of bubbles included.

Menu Highlights: chestnut soup with crispy prosciutto and porcini mushrooms, Beef Wellington (with a foie gras supplement for $10), Bûche de Noël.
Price: $55 for three courses, $95 for five courses.

This seasonal bistro in Sherman Oaks is doing it up for New Year’s Eve with a prix fixe, five-course menu. There are two seatings, 5–7pm and 8:30–9:30pm, the latter of which comes with added benefits: a DJ, dancing, party favors, and Champagne toast.

Menu Highlights: escargot en croute, seared scallops with Maine lobster and leek risotto, duo of bread pudding with bourbon cream and dark chocolate pot de crème.
Price: $110 for the early seating (5pm–7pm), $140 for the late seating (8:30pm–9:30pm).
