Casa Mexico South Philly
Newly Added!
Since introducing the world to her signature tacos at South Philly Barbacoa, chef Cristina Martinez has earned national acclaim and solidified her stance as an authority on excellent Mexican cooking. Now with Casa Mexico, there’s even more to love, with an expanded taco menu, plus bites like guacamole, esquites, and tres leches that are equally as satisfying.
The Tavern Restaurant Midtown Village
Newly Added!
This Camac Street hang carries on the neighborhood’s tradition of outstanding hospitality with a newly renovated space, a menu of American favorites, and live tunes from the piano bar. You’ll want to stay a while to work your way through bites from French onion soup to steaks crusted in blue cheese. There’s plenty of beer and wine to wash it down.
Matines Cafe Wayne
Newly Added!
It’s pretty much the quintessential Parisian-inspired neighborhood cafe, wafting with the smell of baguettes, quiche Lorraine, and Belgian waffles from morning to midafternoon. Start your day with coffee in the cozy dining room, or have a leisurely afternoon meal on the patio while basking in the sun.
Rittenhouse Grill Rittenhouse Square
The old-school glamour — complete with leopard print carpet, a live jazz pianist, and cozy booths — feels like a time machine. Prime rib, miso-glazed sea bass, and oysters set the tone, but it’s the people-watching (sharp suits, big laughs, whispered drama) that makes this a true Philly steakhouse.
Bon Kif Grill Philadelphia
For a laid-back hang full of outstanding Middle Eastern classics, try this intimate, neighborly South Street treasure. Dishes are great for sharing, and there’s some seldom-seen Tunisian specialties like mishwia (a puréed vegetable salad with tuna), plus signature sandwiches served on housemade pita.
La Provence Ambler
Whether you have a view of the gardens or the passing trains, this charming gem feels like Philly’s best-kept secret. Dishes are beautifully presented, from foie gras and salmon mousse to duck with cherry jus. And since it’s BYOB, play sommelier and bring something worthy of sipping in such a lovely space.
The Newsroom Philly Northern Liberties
This high-style speakeasy-esque restaurant and lounge comes from a New York-based restaurant group that knows how to channel cool, someplace-special vibes into their spaces. That’s certainly the case at this Northern Liberties spot that showcases Japanese-inspired bites including sushi rolls and yakitori.
At The Table Wayne
The menu here feels fit for a special occasion without the fuss. Think perfectly tender lamb with artichoke mash, pillowy mushroom tortellini, and incredible thrice-fried fries. The cozy-chic interior and breezy patio set the scene, and thoughtful touches (hello, amuse-bouche) make it memorable.
River Twice East Passyunk
Every visit to River Twice is unique, as wife-and-husband team that is Amanda and Randy Rucker continues to create one of the city’s finest tasting menu experiences. The offerings are constantly changing, but the Ruckers’ focus remains the same: a celebration of their region’s ingredients and culture, translated through a dedicated four-course menu, available Friday through Monday.
Carversville Inn New Hope
After an extensive renovation, this historic Bucks County institution (which first opened as a tavern in 1815) has become a must-see — and must-dine — destination. The interior is nothing less than opulent, with extravagantly patterned wallpaper, crystal chandeliers, and elaborate table settings. The food? Perfectly realized French classics, from onion soup to trout almondine.
The Rook Manayunk Manayunk
We’re here for the creative pub fare (cheesesteak egg rolls, soft pretzels, smash burgers), the more than 30 beers (local and otherwise), the signature cocktails (don’t miss the blood orange cosmo), and the easy-going atmosphere complete with a breezy patio. And did we mention the discounted snacks and brews when the Eagles or Phillies are playing?
Cantina La Martina – Jenkintown Jenkintown
You couldn’t ask for a better match: between chef Dionicio Jiménez’s food and the Human Robot Jenkintown taproom, you’re guaranteed a good time. Go for a beer, a michelada, or a habanero margarita as you sample aguachiles, birria-inspired burgers, machetes (two-foot-long quesadillas), saucy enchiladas, and so much more.
Garage Rittenhouse Rittenhouse
This massive sports bar has everything any Birds, Flyers, Sixers, and Phillies fan might need: Hundreds of TVs with every game imaginable on, lots of beer on tap, and the burgers and snacks everyone knows and loves from the other Garage locations. If the game bores (or angers) you, there’s always pinball and billiards.
Taormina’s · Ristorante · Pizzeria Ivyland
A proper Ivyland hidden gem, Taormina’s is where locals pack in for family-friendly vibes and classics like chicken parm, veal masala, and big bowls of soulful pastas. Don’t skip the tiramisu if you know what’s good for you.
DiFabio’s Market & Tap Media
Whether you’re tucking in for dinner or heading to the second floor bar for drinks and a snack, DiFabio’s is sure to charm you. Known favorites include the South Philly pork sandwich with broccoli rabe, fried calamari, and cannoli for dessert.
Apricot Stone Northern Liberties
You might have a hard time choosing between all the mezze and kebabs offered at this beloved Armenian BYOB in Northern Liberties, so come prepared and bring a group. There are family-style meals for two or more, where you’ll get a taste of everything, from hummus and cheese börek, to rice pilaf, lamb skewers, shawarma, and more. Save room for the baklava and kataif for dessert.
