The Plenty of Clouds team is at it again. This time it’s hand-pulled noodles (made with Washington wheat, no less) inspired by regional Chinese dishes, plus lots of local brews that make it all worthwhile. Get the Wanza mian — brothy wide noodles, topped with ground pork, Chinese broccoli, and chickpeas — it’s soul-affirming on those typical rainy Seattle days.

Because this is a hidden Lake Stevens gem that’s worth seeking out, whether you’re a local or just passing through. It’s all just right: The room that doesn’t try to outdo itself; the perfectly made martinis and Manhattans; and the thick-cut pork chop with a bacon mustard cream sauce that’s on almost every table.

It’s hard to resist the colorful room, familial and communal vibe, and incredibly vibrant food at this Hillman City spot. Eat at the bar or sit around a mesob, a woven sweetgrass table where large combo trays are filled with flavorful vegan or meat-based stews, vegetables, and injera. The fantastic coffee service is complete with sweet bread and incense.

The back deck at chef Trey Lamont’s Belltown spot is as good as a vacation, even if it’s just long enough to finish a plate of crispy jerk fried chicken, rice and peas, plantains, and a fruity rum punch (or two).

From the friendly staff to the Mexican comfort food — rice, refried beans, homemade sauces and salsas —  you feel the familial vibe from the get-go. Practically an Everett institution, La Palmera is known for its massive menu, margaritas, and huge platters of nachos, burritos, and more. It’s a great spot for big groups, solo lunch runs, or happy hour, which happens to run twice every day.

Finding a brick-and-mortar home for his wildly successful pop-up, chef Wes Yoo serves up Korean comfort food like beef ssam platters, pork shoulder in black bean sauce, and really good fried chicken wings. The cocktail list is pretty stunning; in addition to an expansive spirits list, expect inventive seasonal cocktails made with things like makgeolli, a milky, slightly sparkling rice wine.

Lines swooping from the ceiling to the floor, lots of white leather, huge booths, and dramatic purple lighting — this is not your daddy’s steakhouse. The chain is known for its perfectly grilled steaks, chilled shellfish towers, great cocktails, and party vibe — and the Bellevue outpost delivers.
