It’s a peculiarity of living in London that, amidst a cost-of-living crisis, a small resurgence in tasting menus is afoot despite all signs pointing to the the opposite. There’s the eagerly anticipated Cycene, with chef’s chef Theo Clench at the helm; the shiny new St. Bart’s from the team behind trusted fine diners like Fenn and Nest; and of course, Ikoyi will reopen at 180 The Strand later in November. That’s not to say the majority of restaurants aren’t hustling to provide outstanding experiences at wallet friendly prices – they are – but if there’s a place for creativity to flourish in challenging circumstances, it’s right here.
