The August Hit List: Esmé, Lula Cafe, Lardon, Dave’s Red Hots, and More

By

The steamy dog days of summer are here, bringing a few hotly anticipated restaurant openings (and one long-awaited return). There’s fine dining at Esmé in Lincoln Park, where art and philanthropy meet chef Jenner Tomaska’s cerebral cookery; and Lardon in Logan Square, where expert salumi awaits steps from the California Blue Line. And the market-driven mainstay Lula Cafe returns for dine-in after over a year.

That’s not all. You’ll find globally inspired diner fare at Little Goat Diner in the West Loop, historic Chicago-style hot dogs at Dave’s Red Hots in Lawndale, and super-fun Lebanese street food at Evette’s in Lincoln Park. It’s here and more in this month’s Hit List.
