The May Hit List: Apolonia, Kapitan, Mi Tocaya Antojería, Fiya, and More

A flurry of openings and reopenings, the greening of the trees, and the recent expansion in vaccine eligibility has us Chicagoans basking in much-needed optimism. Even with COVID cases appearing to flatline, and more of the city’s restaurant workers vaccinated, we’re still playing it safe as we inch back out to dining inside and out — by masking up and maintaining distance.

After all, we want to keep on enjoying inspired wood-fired Mediterranean in the South Loop, Peranakan in Lincoln Park, loaded hoagies in Beverly, Levantine soul food in Andersonville, and iconic diner-style breakfast food in the Loop. You’ll find all that here, and more, in this month’s Hit List.
