Margaux Aubry of Naughty Piglets Knows the Best Wines to Order (And Where to Get Them Delivered)

By

To-Go Takes is Resy’s regular feature wherein we quiz the folks behind some of our favourite restaurants about all things related to takeaway and delivery.

In this edition, we speak to Margaux Aubry, the co-founder and owner behind Naughty Piglets and The Other Naughty Piglet — two of London’s best natural wine bars and neighbourhood bistros — with the former currently open for food and wine takeaway from their Brixton headquarters. Below, she shares some of her favourite takeaway tips, tricks, cocktails, and regular stops.

Restaurant: Naughty Piglets

Name + Title: Margaux Aubry, Co-Founder and Owner

Naughty Piglets is known for being one of the best places to buy and drink natural wine in London. What have you been drinking during lockdown?

Hmmm, where should I start? I treated myself to a couple of magnums from my favourite champagne maker, Lassaigne, imported by Vinetrail. Feels like drinking a toasty cloud or a very delicate cuddle from someone very special. Also, BB by Massimo & Antonella (Partida Creus), imported by Les Caves and probably De l’Aube à l’Aube by Alexandre Jouveaux, imported by Tutto. Lots of craft beers, too.

You also have a handy bottle shop for takeaway. Is that still open, and what are your favourite bottles on the list at the moment?

Yes, it’s still open Wednesday to Saturday from 12-8pm. Favourites on the list: Face B, Savagnin 17 from Les Bottes Rouges, imported by Les Caves. Horiot Solera champagne, imported by Winemakers Club & Els Jelipins Sumol 15, imported by Dynamic Vines

If the Naughty Piglets team was working and you ordered takeaway for staff meal, where are you getting takeaway from and what are you ordering?

Just got some gorgeous looking sashimi from The Sea, The Sea, but I’ll have them for dinner — otherwise I’d say a pizza from Brixton Pizza or some knockout noodles from Koi Ramen in Herne Hill.

Personal favourite way to spruce up your takeaway?

We have our ham croquettes on! Also got cool naughty stamps to personalise our packaging (thanks to Alexis at Wander restaurant).

I love the set menus that the restaurant is selling to-go. Are there any classic dishes from the restaurant that have worked well for takeaway?

Hell yes! Our BBQ pork belly with Korean spices, our crab salad with satay & seaweed, or the hispi cabbage & XO! Oh and of course, our chocolate mousse & salted caramel.

Aside from Naughty Piglets, what’s your favourite place for cocktails to-go?

Three Sheets all the way !!!

What single restaurant dish would you walk miles for?

To be honest I’d walk to Paris and get some sweet breads at La Robe et Le Palais.

And which restaurant are you visiting first when lockdown eventually gets relaxed?

Lyles or Brawn. Oh, and The Anchor & Hope in Waterloo.
