New on Resy: Angler, Nido, Ox & Tiger, Brenda’s, Central Kitchen, and More

One of the best Mexican restaurants in the East Bay is back, and taking reservations for the first time. Nido means “nest” in Spanish — and they’re inviting you to do just that whilst sipping on margaritas and snacking on brisket tacos, duck taquitos with salsa macha, a very fall salad featuring persimmon and delicata squash, and so much more. What happens when Filipino cuisine meets Japanese? Tsukune lumpia and bistek gyoza are good starts. Find out what else with Ox & Tiger, a pop-up by chefs EJ Macayan and Hitomi Wada. They’re currently doing a patio popup at Vineyard Gate Wine Shop in Millbrae. Open for outdoor dining and takeout.

The excellent Angler, a seafood-centric restaurant focused on live-fire cooking and an Esquire Best New Restaurant, is back. If you haven’t heard the hype, come find out for yourself just why this spot is so good. Pro Tip: the vegetable section is actually the star of the menu. Order one of everything. The pairing of tamales and alcohol might bring nostalgia to some (RIP Tamale Lady). Prizefighter is serving up some vegetarian and pork versinos to pair with their excellent craft cocktails in a newly renovated outdoor patio. You could do a meat and three on the patio – we’re partial to the Brenda’s spicy fried chicken with hot pepper jelly. But maybe you don’t eat meat, or you just simply go four sides only: cheese grits, glazed yams, mac and cheese, and cream biscuits. We’re fans of pairing pizza with a salade for the good ‘ole health: whether it’s a classic Caesar or a creamy blue cheese iceberg situation, balance is key. Come get both at Pizza Place on Noriega — they’ve got both an outdoor patio in the backyard as well as a parklet up front, in addition to takeout options. Open for outdoor dining and takeout.

Central Kitchen has always had a patio, with a roof that opens up. But what’s new is their transformation into a wine bar. Now, the 20th Street destination is much more snack focused: Think sardine tins, mushroom arancini, beef tartare. Sit down for a bit, grab a bottle of wine — everything is going to be just fine. Basil Thai has all sorts of delicious things on the menu, including an excellent happy hour deal featuring roti curry tacos, $3 skewers (including turmeric lamb), and $8 house signature cocktails. Open for delivery and takeout.
