One of the brightest champions of London’s diverse Caribbean food culture, Keshia Sakariah of Caribe in Pop Brixton draws from her Montserratian roots to create faithful renditions of classic island dishes. She’s teamed up with Trinidadian neighbours Lagniappe Food to offer Carnival Lunchboxes, packed with dishes like flaky roti with curry chicken or channa (chickpeas) with pumpkin, rice with oxtail, and classic sides and sauces on the side. The value proposition with Bubala is simple: the best shakshuka in the city, delivered. Chef Helen Graham’s fresh take on Middle Eastern cuisine has won admirable acclaim, and this step-by-step package highlights the best of it, while taking all the effort out of lazy weekend brunches. The Sunday roasts at The Harwood Arms are some of the finest in Britain, and it isn’t hard to see why — star chef Sally Abe has a Michelin star, and the food reflects that pedigree. Diners can experience the full works at home with the gastropub’s DIY roast box, created with their suppliers in the Lake District. There’s roast potatoes, bone marrow sauce, hay baked carrots, Yorkshire pudding, and more, surrounding an impressive beef sirloin — all in oven-ready containers. Arguably one London’s finest Vietnamese restaurants, Eat Vietnam has quietly been going about the business of feeding its community during lockdown. Offering contactless home delivery and pickup in the Deptford area, expect superior renditions of dishes like banh cuon (delicate steamed rice rolls filled with wood-ear mushrooms and pork), cha chien (Vietnamese cured sausage), and grilled meat and fish. Opening during a lockdown takes some chutzpah, and the owners of this new Punjabi restaurant in Dalston have it in spades. While a July date is slated for dine-in, the entire menu is currently available for takeaway and delivery. Food-wise, you’re in great hands, with the menu devised by Masterchef Professionals alum Arbinder Duggal — think Amritsari fish with Makrut lime mayo, tender lamb chops, and delicate breads that front a menu loaded with faithfully prepared dishes. From the same team behind Patty & Bun, Sidechick delivers outstanding corn-fed chickens roasted to perfection. Marinade-wise, there’s peri-peri, butter-herb, and za’atar-and-honey to choose from, with a simple list of sides and wines from St. John to wash it all down. Cafe Murano serves some of the most consistently excellent Italian cuisine in London, and the standards of their delivery and collection service are equally lofty. Yes, there’s fresh pasta (the basics, plus lasagne and stuffed pastas), but there’s also everything from high-quality antipasti and sauces to cupboard essentials and Amalfi lemons.
