The Morris, Birdsong, Nari, and More: Introducing The Resy At Home Hit List

Nari — which is one of America’s best new restaurants according to, pretty much everyone — is offering drive-through pickup for their intensely flavorful fare. Dishes are cold-packed and meant to be reheated at home. There’s papaya salad, vegetable panang curry, khao soi and khao mun gai for two. Some days also feature Dirty Girl Produce farm boxes. In addition to curbside pickup five nights a week, The Morris is offering its legendary duck to roast at home, and has even prepared a special carving instructional video to help. On Wednesdays, they’re doing juicy burgers to go along with the usual epic charcuterie and small plates. Few things comfort as much as fried chicken. Birdsong realized this, and pivoted from its Michelin-starred tasting menu to bring you Birdbox, which comes with crispy, juicy fried chicken, gooey cornbread, and a cookie. It may feel a little weird to not have to stand in line to experience Swan Oyster Depot, but we’re just happy we can still get a taste of our favorite old school San Francisco seafood spot. There’s something so satisfying about chef-owner Heena Patel’s Gujarati-fare. You can just tell it comes from the heart. On the abbreviated menu, there are two meat options — a buttery bone-in chicken makhani or lamb with tamarind gravy. Both come with channa masala, paratha, a side of khichdi (rice with lentils) and raita. There’s a vegetarian option available as well, and the meals ($49 each) easily feed two to three.

Mister Jiu’s has made its pantry available with Jiu’s HO HO. You now have access to things like housemade lap cheong, wontons, and red braised pork shoulder by the pound, as well as specialty pantry oils and vinegars.  There’s also wine by the bottle, cocktails, and spirits to quench your thirst. The vibe and energy of this Jaliscan-Californian inspired restaurant on Valencia may be gone for the moment, but its kitchen is still producing birria burritos, roast chicken, and cochinita pibil taco kits. There’s also natty wine by the bottle, and little shots of mezcal served in plastic containers. No one will judge you for taking one while you wait for your food. Takeout only. The talented chef Matt Accarrino has transformed SPQR into a take-away family meal spot. The menu changes daily and there are many options: from pastas like garganelli with Brussels sprouts and bacon to larger family meals for sharing, like tomato-braised beef meatballs with baked ziti. The legendary chicken pho from Turtle Tower is perfect for delivery and the pro move is to add on a large side (or two) of soup to freeze for a rainy day. The broths are so delicate that they can stand in for regular chicken broth when cooking, but are also just extremely sippable around the house. Order here.
