This Week’s At Home Hit List: Ju-Ni, Chez Panisse, Sister, and More

Ju-Ni is here for your fresh fish fix.  Sometimes you need a massive, colorful chirashi bowl in your life. We’re talking ikura (salmon roe), scallops from Hokkaido, crab, tamago, house-pickled veggies and shiso over a bed of seasoned sushi rice. Chez Panisse has been championing and supporting sustainable, small local farms since 1971, way before those ideals became buzzwords, and Alice Waters and co. are not letting a pandemic stop them. Sister is offering takeout three days a week, plus pantry provisions like fresh bread, jams, granola, and pancake mix. On the food side, expect deliciousness such as chicken katsu sandwiches, carbonara pizza (!), and little gem salads for that greenery in your life. Wash down with a negroni, mezcal negroni, or both. As soon as we can, we can’t wait to get back into Gary Danko. It’s low-key got some of the best service in San Francisco and certainly one of the finest cheese carts in town. Jeff Krupman slings some of San Francisco’s finest pizza pies, and now he’s doing limited-edition Detroit style squares with crispy cheese crown crusts. Slightly sour, not too dense and intense, be sure to grab an intermezzo salad and Berkeley nostalgia (if you know you know). More info here.
