The Miami Restaurants We’re Loving Right Now

Published:

If there’s one thing you must know about the people who work at Resy and Tock, it’s that we genuinely love restaurants …

This month, Team Resy and Tock indulged in some fantastic desserts, had a perfect solo dinner at the bar, and tucked into top-notch pizza and pasta.

On a rainy night…

Claudie still felt so vibrant and elegant. We sat by the charming fountain on the covered terrace (entirely protected from the elements – I almost swore we were seated indoors) and enjoyed the most garlicky escargots, a refreshing gazpacho served in a martini glass with basil foam, and spaghetti with creamy lobster bisque stuffed inside the whole Maine lobster shell. The highlight, though, might have been the Coco Chanel-inspired Eau de Coco, a coconut-passionfruit cocktail that came with a perfume spritz of lavender aroma.

This restaurant is always excellent…

Every time I visit Jon & Vinny’s, I order the classics: the spicy fusilli and the gem salad, which are musts for me. The pizza is also always delicious — no matter which one you order, know that you’re getting something top-notch. This is probably one of the most unique and fun locations for fantastic pizza and pasta in Miami, and it’s perfect for kids, with plenty of space outdoors for them to roam around.

I had a spontaneous last-minute solo dinner…

… at Boia De. It was my first time ever there, and I love that they have half-portions of certain menu items. I ordered their beef tartare, some crispy polenta, the chicken liver and foie pâté, the squid ink seafood pasta, and an olive oil cake — all for just under $100 before tip (!). It was such a great spot with a cool playlist and chill, unpretentious vibes.

I love it when I don’t have to over-analyze a menu…

San Lorenzo simplifies choices with a straightforward question: do you want fish or meat this evening? From there, your journey through Italy begins with a savory antipasto, followed by your entrées and excellent hospitality along the way. Be sure to save room for the crêpes Suzette, which lets you end the meal in a nostalgic, glamorous fashion.

I was already a fan of…

… Daniel’s in Fort Lauderdale — I even celebrated my birthday there — so I was thrilled when the team opened in Coral Gables. The new outpost lived up to my expectations, from pouring my own martini to cutting into a perfectly cooked steak with all the sides. The highlight was the foie gras crème brûlée, layered with Hudson Valley foie gras, cashews, toasted coconut, and mango. It was decadent and playful, and one of the most memorable takes on foie I’ve ever had.

After opening a few locations around Miami…

Bondi Sushi set their sights on Fort Lauderdale. I was able to go and take advantage of their new bar, as well as indulge in some classics, like the air-fried crispy rice and some nigiri. This latest location, though, has a robata grill (a traditional Japanese wood-fired grill), which meant new dishes: I really enjoyed the seared Hokkaido scallops with a chimichurri sauce. Bondi’s always a great choice for a sushi experience.
