The Charleston Restaurants We Loved This Month
If there’s one thing you must know about the people who work at Resy, it’s that we genuinely love restaurants …
This month, Team Resy dined out on many a patio, got our socks knocked off by a rich red curry, traveled to NOLA via alligator bites, and found a perfect hotel restaurant.
I’ve been waiting to get back to…
… Renzo for a while now, and popped in for a spontaneous happy hour the other day with some friends. I was blown away. I started with an Aperol spritz, which was perfect on a hot Charleston day, alongside the potatoes al limone, which came with a delicious aioli and pizza salt on top — I wasn’t expecting much from an order of potatoes, but these were unreal and will be a must whenever I drop by. The ricotta gnudi were spectacular as well. This is now possibly ranking as my new favorite restaurant in Charleston.

After hearing nothing but great things…
… my friends and I finally went to Kultura, a Filipino restaurant from chef Nikko Cagalanan (who was a 2024 James Beard Emerging Chef finalist). We split the kinilaw (yellowfin tuna with coconut leche, mint, and a touch of lime zest — one of our favorite dishes of the night), the arroz caldo, the Jollybee (lumache topped with ragu), the curry (a rich red curry with roasted red snapper and a shaved carrot salad — phenomenal), and the pork asado. We absolutely loved everything and couldn’t help but overeat — would 10/10 recommend.

You can’t beat…
… the outdoor dining vibe at Coterie. It’s charming, quaint, and almost fairytale-like at night, with all of the ambient lighting. As for food, we had the scallop ceviche (which came in a small seashell — so cute), a classic Bibb lettuce, and the small beef roast.

Self-described as a “Low Country Louisiana Seafood Kitchen”…
… LoLA Park Circle is a wonderfully casual spot with a patio full of long picnic tables under a church revival tent for shade. We started with a round of Hurricanes (they had a NA version for me and my growing baby bump) and ordered alligator bites, fried oysters, and shrimp poppers, which were all very tasty and reminiscent of past trips to New Orleans. The star of our meal were the duck fries smothered in cheese, with duck confit, bits of fried green tomato, fried pickles, and fried jalapeños — they were so good that we ordered three more for the table.

Everyone in my family loved…
… Little Palm, located in the Ryder Hotel. The outdoors atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for: beachy, tropical, and upbeat, with a fun DJ onsite. We ordered the special of the day, which was Jamaican shrimp with plantains, alongside two salads. The drinks were great, too — as a mezcal lover, I got the Wake the Dead (Patrón Silver, mezcal, watermelon, tamarind, and soda), which was spectacular.
