Women do so much of the essential work in restaurants. And yet women struggle for recognition and visibility in so many parts of the hospitality industry. That’s not entirely the case in Los Angeles, though, where you’ll find women running the kitchen or the dining-room floor of many of the city’s best restaurants, from longstanding classics (The Cat & Fiddle Restaurant & Pub) to buzzy new hot spots (Bar Siesta, KinKan).
