The Resy Hit List: Where In Charleston You’ll Want to Eat Right Now

By

There’s no question we hear more often: Where should I go eat? And while we at Resy know it’s an honor to be the friend who everyone asks for restaurant advice, we also know it’s a complicated task. That’s where the Resy Hit List comes in.

We’ve designed it to be your essential resource for dining in and around Charleston: a monthly-updated (and newly expanded!) guide to the restaurants in that you won’t want to miss — tonight or any night.

Four Things In Charleston Not to Miss This Month

  • Getting Wild: The Southeastern Wildlife Exposition on Feb. 16-18 marks the customary start of tourism season in Charleston (as though it ever really ends). Back again in Marion Square this year, the S.C. Department of Agriculture is hosting chefs from across the state, including Alex Yellan of Colectivo, Michelle Weaver of Charleston Grill, and more. The best part? It’s free. Check sewe.com for the full schedule.
  • Get Your Gullah Geechee On: The second annual Taste of Gullah Geechee showcase is set for Feb. 4 in North Charleston, hosted by Carolima’s, and featuring some all-star chefs like the legendary Charlotte Jenkins and others. Tickets are $100 and available at carolimas.com.
  • Greek Life: Taverna opened last month, around the corner from Philosophia, the original concept from owners Dimitri Hatgidimitriou and Justin Hunt. While you can still fill your table with mezze at Philosophia, Taverna takes on larger plates, with a focus on whole fish and fresh seafood — plus a Greek-focused wine program. Book here, and find more recent openings in New on Resy.
  • Beard Bounty: As you may have noticed, the Holy City boasted a solid roster of  James Beard semifinalists, announced last month. Among them: Edmund’s Oast, up for Outstanding Bar, chef Nikko Cagalanan, who runs Kultura, up for Emerging Chef, and Obstinate Daughter chef Jacques Larson. If you haven’t checked in on them lately, no time like the present.

New to the Hit List (Feb. 2024)
