Boston’s Newest Restaurant Openings, Now on Resy

Come with hungry friends to share the classic tapas and faultless paellas at Yann de Rochefort’s ninth outpost of his crowd-pleasing Boqueria chain, named for the famous covered market in Barcelona. Pro tip: Splurge on “The Boqueria Experience” — an array of seasonal specialties, plus 36-month-aged jamón ibérico.

After winning many awards and accolades for Aldea in Manhattan, chef George Mendes continues his story of modern Portuguese cooking from high above the city. The room is stunning, as are the unobstructed views through large windows. The menu is tightly woven around Portuguese staples and local ingredients via the chef’s creative interpretations. Your Portuguese avó might balk at his versions of traditional fare, but chances are they’ll still find it utterly delicious.

The team behind SRV and The Salty Pig have another winner, this time it’s mortadella-stuffed cappelletti with corn, snap pea Caesar salads, and merguez sausage pizzas for East Cambridge. You’ll note the stylish owl motif everywhere — gufo means “owl” in Italian.

It’s not the only reason to find your way to the Raffles 17th floor lounge and terrace — there is breakfast, lunch, and afternoon tea — but don’t leave without sipping a Singapore Sling. The drink was conceived at the original Singapore Raffles, so consider this the one to compare all others to. The swanky cocktail lounge and gorgeous garden terrace have phenomenal views of the South End, perfect for any time of day and snack.

Comfort food comes in many guises. At Sarah Wade’s (of Stillwater) Allston spot, it might be pretzel-crusted chicken or shrimp birria tacos; lamb meatloaf with za’atar ketchup or vegan vegetable-filled stew; or good old-fashioned juicy grilled burgers with hand-cut curly fries. With dinner like that, you know brunch is bumpin’.

Although the menu leans towards pub fare — pretzel bites, cacio e pepe tots, meatballs, and sliders — there’s a lot more to this everyday Allston spot. Like beers, from the usual suspects to more “funky” suds, zero-proof drinks, beet tartare, and board games, to name a few.

Because this moody Downtown Crossing restaurant and piano bar (there’s a seven-foot instrument involved) has an occult theme and comes from the people behind Mad Monkfish. Expect a cocktail list that includes “magic potions” and a menu of Thai-leaning Asian tapas that makes magic of its own.

Vinh Le and Duong Huynh, who energized Cambridge with their red-hot Cicada, have brought their fresh Vietnamese-inspired fare here to Bow Market in Somerville’s Union Square. Do not miss the banana flower salad and duck in various guises.

It’s South Beach on Newbury Street at this high-energy bar created by the team behind Rock & Rye and the Flamingo — complete with vibrant cocktails (like a tropical rum punch for two, served in a conch shell) and a menu by chef Scott McCarthy (of Bar Mercato) that references Mexico, South America, China, and beyond.

This two-level 6,300-square-foot West End gathering place may be packed with sports memorabilia (TD Garden is next door) and equipped with 33 big-screen TVs, but it ups the sports-bar game with a non-stop menu of everything you really want to eat, from wings to smashburgers to classic fish and chips.

Add this cozy Southie spot from Mike Shaw and Rachel Titcomb (Fat Baby, Loco) to your Hit List for casual, eclectic American fare including craveable sandwiches, pizzas, natural wine, and more — and definitely order some of those house-cut fries.

Now here’s a novel idea from the proprietors of Cobble, the award-winning Brookline gem: An adjacent 14-seat reservation-only BYOB bar. Come with whatever you like to drink — Barlette will provide glassware, ice, and seasonal housemade mixers on tap for a true DIY experience, alongside a menu of shareable bar snacks.

An import from Manhattan’s East Village, Borrachito has a speakeasy secret: Up front, this Seaport hot spot is a modern counter service taquería — but through what appears to be a walk-in freezer door next to the counter, there’s a semi-secret bar featuring “Kinda Like a Margarita” cocktails, michelada variations, and more.

This sibling to chef Marc Orfaly’s ReelHouse locations in East Boston and Marina Bay is making its mark at the Seaport with oysters (of course), caviar, sushi tacos, poke bowls, and an array of Neapolitan-style pizzas, all served with a panoramic view of Fan Pier Marina.

Boston restaurant maven Brian Moy ramped up the Central Square dining scene when he brought a branch of this Chinatown favorite, with its deliciously indefinable menu, across the river. Don’t miss the signature Shōjōnator, a burger with bacon and “kimcheese” on a sesame bao bun.

The restaurant scene at Somerville’s Assembly Row is on fire, and a good portion of the heat is coming from this whimsically retro-look establishment from the group behind the nearby Mexican favorite Papagãyo. The eclectic menu ranges from cheese and meat boards to grilled pizza and daily farmers market platter.

It’s mozzarella sticks, chicken Parm, and cannoli — among other old-school Italian-American specialties — done traditionally but in high style at this Boston outpost of the Parm mini-empire from New York’s Major Food Group (of Carbone, Sadelle’s, etc.).
