The Resy Guide to Recreating the Outside Lands Food Lineup at Home

The Beignets & Bounce Brunch with Big Freedia was always one of those must-attend GastroMagic events. (If you know you know; if you don’t know, now you know.) This year, twerk and crush beignets in the comfort of your own home with Brenda’s. Open for takeout and delivery. 

Rich Table’s porcini doughnuts are always one of our favorite things to eat at Outside Lands. Though RT isn’t offering these on its current takeout menu, you can still buy a cookbook and the Rich Table umami powder to make the doughnuts at home. Grab a bunch of cocktails while you’re at it because you deserve it. Open for takeout and delivery. 

One of our favorite OSL moves was to hit Del Popolo’s pizza truck on the early side before a line formed. Their leopard-charred pies are perfect park food, and provide a nice base layer for a long day ahead of filled with drinking and music. Open for outdoor dining, plus takeout and frozen pizza shipping (!).

Cassava has some delicious all-beef cheddar jalapeno hot dogs on the takeout menu that sound like perfect festival food. Just picture yourself scrambling through the Polo Field to catch the next set on Lands End Stage, hot dog in one hand, stiff-arming your way through blunt-smoking crowds with your other. Open for takeout or delivery.

It’s always fun to eat food from chefs in an environment that you wouldn’t get to experience. Sorrel, a fine dining Cal-Italian Michelin-starred restaurant comes to mind — they were at the last couple OSL’s serving  fried chicken sandos. Now, choose to get a porchetta sandwich delivered, or choose to dine in on their terrace. Open for outdoor dining, plus takeout and delivery.

Radiohead last played OSL in 2016, but remember when they headlined the first one in 2008 and the audio went out and Thom cheekily asked the audience in his English accent: “Who spilled beer on the plug?” That was fun. Speaking of beer, check out Hopscotch’s selection — they’ve got a good one. And while you’re at it, perhaps pickup some of Kyle Itani’s tater tots with yuzu chile aioli to pair. We associate Ryan Farr and his Best Damn Cheeseburger and his delicious chimichurri fries with OSL as much as we associate the fog painting the sky gray over Hellman Hollow while watching your favorite indie act at the Twin Peaks Stage. Remember when Metallica headlined OSL back in 2017 and they played “One” while shooting out fireworks into the sky? You know what else is worthy of fireworks? El Huarache Loco’s crazy good huaraches.  They’ve been a longtime food vendor at OSL, and you can find their fare at the Alemany Farmers’ Market on Saturday, or for takeout and delivery in their Larkspur location.  More info here.

Tres Tequila Lounge was an Outside Lands vendor, but with new owners, they’ve recently made the pandemic pivot to an open-air Tequila and taco outpost called Merkado. We’d like to think that if they were still at OSL, they’d carry this concept over, and we’re in full support of it. Open for outdoor dining, plus takeout and delivery.

Shani Jones was slated to sling her Jamaican patties this year at Outside Lands. You already know the bad news, but the good news is you can still get them. We’re partial to the ground chicken patty, which is filled with Jamaican curry powder, coriander, turmeric, thyme, and scotch bonnet peppers.  Open for takeout.
