Frenchette, Lilia, George Washington Bar, Now on The Resy Hit List

Because this highly anticipated TriBeCa brasserie is a H-I-T. Which, is what what you’d expect from canonized New York City chefs Lee Hanson and Riad Nasr’s first solo venture. And yet the lack of surprise doesn’t make the atmosphere any less intoxicating, or the food any less nuanced or delicious. Frenchette is a thing of beauty; original yet classic, and armed with one of the most exciting (all-natural) wine programs in the city.

Because it’s ramps season, and chef Missy Robbins is cooking up something good. As we settle into al fresco season, take note: Lilia has one of the best patios in town (also known as “Lilia Beach”). Spritz in one hand, twirl of mafaldini in the other—it doesn’t get much better than that.

Because the tables here are still some of the hottest in town. Chalk it up to husband-and-wife duo Angie Rito and Scott Tacinelli’s innate ability to riff on beloved Italian-American dishes and, in turn, create splendid modern-day renditions (they’ll have you at stuffed garlic flatbread).

Because since opening last fall, Ferris has continued to innovate and evolve. The current menu skews Asian, and standout dishes include a Japanese-inspired Iberico katsu sando and a spectacle called “duck on the crown,” which comes with Ferris’ take on Korean banchan and can be can be supplemented, if you ask, with aged duck legs.

Because within the city landscape of neighborhood joints and splashy chef-driven locales, this tiny, two-fold eatery stands out. During the day, it’s a traditional Japanese tea shop (“kissaten”), serving sweet red bean toast for breakfast and pork curry over rice at lunch. Come dinnertime, Davelle shifts gears to offer many kinds of oden—a dish consisting of ingredients stewed in a light dashi broth—the highlights of which include a whole, skinned tomato topped with Parmesan cheese, and the ravioli-like mochikinchaku, billed as “mochi inside fried tofu skin.”

Because the cult-favorite Danish beer company’s brand-new Queens brewery has already earned quite a following. The bustling, design-savvy tap room attached to Citi Field offers a sizeable selection of tasty brews, including a handful that are exclusive to New York—like the rich and smooth Beer Geek Parlor, a collaboration with Brooklyn-based roasting company Parlor Coffee. Bonus points for the hot dogs, which come from none other than Pat LaFrieda.

Because Claro is the latest hotspot to jump on the brunch bandwagon, serving up chilaquiles and marquesota (a Latin American cake) to eager Brooklynites and those willing to trek to Gowanus for T.J. Steele’s irresistible take on Oaxacan cuisine. At dinnertime, opt for one of the mole varieties, which Pete Wells calls “riveting.”

Because while much of the attention thus far has gone to the Simon & The Whale and Studio, the Freehand’s notable George Washington Bar is a mighty (and exceedingly handsome) member of the pack. With exquisite cocktails, first-rate snacks (get the burger), and a no standing policy that ensures a purely civilized atmosphere, it will be your new “drinks” go-to.

Because while The NoMad team has been steadily generating buzz with their grand opening in LA, the original NoMad remains a consistent top pick, and genuine institution. Plus, the signature milk & honey ice cream is especially delightful when warmer days are just a lick away. If you can’t swing dinner, come for one of the city’s best power lunches.
