The Resy Hit List: Where In Austin You’ll Want to Eat Right Now

By

There’s no question we hear more often: Where should I go eat? And while we at Resy know it’s an honor to be the friend who everyone asks for restaurant advice, we also know it’s a complicated task. That’s where the Resy Hit List comes in.

We’ve designed it to be your essential resource for dining in and around Austin: a monthly-updated (and newly expanded!) guide to the restaurants in that you won’t want to miss — tonight or any night.

Four Things In Austin Not to Miss This Month

  • Get Ready for SXSW: SXSW basically consumes the month of March — the emotional preparation to wait in line, the construction of a three-story pop-up for the new “It” brand, thousands of people walking around wearing brightly colored lanyards with no shame, and the post-fest detox will surely take 31 days. Be ready for the festival by having a Resy at Bill’s Oyster, Bacalar, or Garage Bar. These spots work well to hang with clients or friends right in the thick of it.
  • Crawfish Watch: This year’s crawfish season might be lighter than previous years. The supply is limited due to last year’s extreme heat and the ongoing drought. So while you might not be able to get your mudbug boil fix that you’re used to around this time of year, Shoal Creek Saloon is keeping crawfish fans updated about when they will be in stock.
  • Spurs Week: Later in March, the San Antonio Spurs will play two games at the Moody Center. Since Austin isn’t necessarily a huge NBA town, Where When What Austin is hosting a Spurs tailgate at Other Racquet Social Club, with its full bar and three pickleball courts. Check out all the events for Spurs Week, and if you want a sit-down dinner beforehand, Pelons Tex Mex and Old Thousand are both near Moody.
  • March Madness: Speaking of basketball … after the SXSW crowds have dispersed, the sports fans come out of the woodwork to find bars that have enough TVs to fully enjoy NCAA March Madness. Whether your team is going far or you just want the team with a Banana Slug as a mascot to win, we recommend watching the games at Haymaker or Skinny’s Off Track Bar, or check Resy’s list of great places to drink in Austin.
