The September Hit List: Phoenicia, Sloppy Chops, Marrow, Adachi, and More

By

Another anxious back-to-school season has us hoping the Delta variant doesn’t entirely undo that unsettled sense of normalcy we’ve felt this summer in Michigan. Cases in the state remain low compared to elsewhere in the country, and more and more businesses and venues are requiring either masks, proof of vaccination, or a combination of both in exchange for patronage. If in doubt, call ahead.

This month, we pay homage to an iconic Lebanese-American restaurant during its 50th year in business, and salute a trio of Black-owned, pandemic-born dining establishments lighting the way to success. Plus, real deal döner kebab in Corktown, a Nobu alum’s stellar sushi in Birmingham, and a tour through Detroit’s east side.

Welcome to your September Hit List.
