The Resy Guide to Dog-Friendly Patios in Austin

The County Line On The Lake is picturesque, there’s no doubt about it. It’s set in an old lake lodge that backs up to Bull Creek, and looks an awful lot like something you’d see on a postcard (which you can very likely find). That also means it comes with a large, spacious patio — something very convenient if you’ve brought along those canine buddies. But the best part about dining here is the all-you-can-eat, family-style barbecue that’s bound to turn even the most average evening into a great one.

As you could probably guess from the name, Hold Out Brewing makes some excellent beers — try the Koala Takedown if you’re a fan of hazy IPAs — but rather than focusing on drinks alone, the food here is given a lot of thought. The Hold Out Classic Burger, a double smashburger with cheese, is one of our favorites in town, and the brined and fried house Buffalo wings are excellent. The space is largely outdoors, making it a great one to bring those pups along to. And you can even pick up some dog biscuits — made with spent grain and peanut butter — because you’re not the only one who gets to eat well at Hold Out.

With a massive outdoor beer garden, and probably the largest patio on Rainey Street, Banger’s is a great spot to bring along your canine friends for a day outside in the sun. They have over 200 beers on draft — the best kind of challenge the indecisive — and a great selection of house-made sausage and classic pub bites. That includes the “woofwurst” — a pork, beef, and veggie sausage made just for dogs. There’s even a fenced-off section of the patio for pups run around off-leash when they’re ready to stretch their legs a bit.

Summer House On Music Lane always feels like a nice escape from the hustle and bustle of South Congress. It’s tucked away just enough for some peace and quiet while still offering some excellent bites at almost any time of day. Grab a seat on the large, dog-friendly patio and enjoy a margarita or two while you internally debate between the summer salad and the smashburger (you know the right answer). And if you happen to be staying at the Hotel Magdalena that houses Summer House, you’ll be happy to know that it’s dog-friendly as well.

For most of the last year, Lenoir has been operating entirely out of their wine garden — a picturesque outdoor dining area under the shade of some massive oak trees. There, you can enjoy their “Hot Weather Menu,” which features a variety of dishes that have been optimized for, well, hot weather. And you can order them a la carte, or let the chef decide with a five-course tasting menu. Either way, you’ll be able to do it with your dog by your side the whole way.

It almost feels like cheating to include a spot like Yard Bar — equal parts bar and dog park in Allandale — but it’s definitely one of the best spots in town to bring your pups, enjoy a drink, and snack on some great food. There’s a dog-friendly patio (on-leash), as well as a large, off-leash dog park that you can enter for a small fee — paid on a one-time or membership basis. The drink menu features plenty of mocktails and soft drinks, as well as beer, wine, and draft cocktails. And when you inevitably find yourself hungry, you can fill up on White Castle-style sliders from Fat City Stacks on the patio.
