The Resy Hit List: Where In Houston You’ll Want to Eat Right Now

By

There’s no question we hear more often: Where should I go eat? And while we at Resy know it’s an honor to be the friend who everyone asks for restaurant advice, we also know it’s a complicated task. That’s where the Resy Hit List comes in.

We’ve designed it to be your essential resource for dining in Houston: a monthly-updated (and newly expanded!) guide to the restaurants in that you won’t want to miss — tonight or any night.

Four Things In Houston Not to Miss This Month

  • Top-Tier Izakaya: Longtime followers of 5Kinokawa chef Billy Kin (whose beloved Blackbird Izakaya closed in 2020) will be overjoyed to know that he’s re-entering the Japanese izakaya game with his newest concept, 5Tesseract. Located in the same building as 5Kinokawa, diners can expect a casual, no-reservations affair here with a menu that includes some familiar Blackbird favorites.
  • Year of the Dragon: In celebration of the Lunar New Year, Phat Eatery will again be hosting its Malaysian New Year’s feast from Feb. 9 to 11 and Feb. 14. Revelers can expect an $88 tasting menu (served family style) and lion dance performances. Book here.
  • Treat Your Sweetheart: For Valentine’s Day, Spanish hotspot MAD is offering a $125 four-course prix fixe menu (bluefin tuna tartare, Iberico ham, and more) curated by executive chef Luis Roger and head chef Fernando Recio. Vegan and vegetarian substitutions are available, as well as a wine pairing. Book here, and find more options on Resy’s Events page.
  • New Tex-Mex Alert: Agricole Hospitality’s East Downtown spot HiWay Cantina is open and ready to take its place among Houston’s Tex-Mex scene. Expect a menu filled with classics — and don’t sleep on the margaritas, obvi. Book here, and find more openings in New On Resy.
