Because owner Matthew Mitchell invites you to “explore the world through food and drink” at this upscale stunner. The creative plates go globe-hopping, from Asia (pho dumplings and Peking-style duck gyoza) to South America (provoleta and smoked chicken arepas) and beyond. And that’s just the appetizers.

Because once diners discover the “Qmami” brunch, it will be tough to get a reservation. Whether we’re talking oxtails and grits served with peppered bacon, or bananas Foster pancakes, or chilaquiles made with filet mignon, the menu dresses up soulful mid-morning classics with a dash of unexpected luxury.

Because we can’t help but crave a stop at this Israeli-influenced steakhouse. Yes, the steaks are some of the best in town, but what keeps us coming back are the Middle Eastern sides and apps, like a vibrant Israeli salad or colorful artichoke flower salad.

As much as we love the arboreal Garden Room, we can’t wait to take in the fresh air while we savor the complex ribeye cruda, topped with sunchoke crumbles and a tangy black garlic balsamic reduction. A blueberry Bee’s Knees is the perfect farm-fresh drink to go alongside it.

Because this new vegan restaurant doesn’t skimp on flavor. We’re convinced that the bun bo Hue is one of the best in town — this spicy “beef” noodle soup has all the aromatics and sweetness of pho, plus a slap of chile oil, but it’s somehow even more satisfying knowing that no animals were harmed in its creation. Get a fish-free order of sizzling clay pot “fish” while you’re at it.

Because this elegant Indian eatery just introduced an inspiring new menu called “Forgotten Foods of India.” Hard-to-find dishes — made with produce grown in chef-owner Sunil Srivastava’s home garden — fill a five-course bill of fare that spans several regions and eras of India’s culinary heritage.

Because chef Mark Holley, formerly of Holley’s, is back in full force at this unassuming spot inside the Mosaic Apartments. The offerings include nods to Mexico and Louisiana, but the most memorable dish on the menu hails from the Middle East: the harissa-dusted Cornish hen is sure to be your new jam.
