Lovestruck Wine Bar Cambridge

map

Located inside Harvard Square’s Lovestruck Books & Café, this wine bar gives romance readers the chance to unwind with George Howell Coffee and natural wines. Eight wines are available by the glass, pulled from a list that prioritizes female winemakers, regional diversity, and lesser-seen varietals. Solid sustenance, meanwhile, comes in the form of cheese and charcuterie plates sourced from Formaggio Kitchen and served alongside potato chips or housemade crostini.

Qiao Lin Hotpot Boston Allston

map

If you have not had Chongqing-style hotpot, let this Chicago import educate you. The Allston newcomer is distinguished by the richness of its slow-cooked broths, which are available in either a spicy mala form or a milder tomato base. Whatever fills your pot, you’ll soon be invited to plunge in everything from Japanese A5 wagyu to jumbo scallops and housemade pork dumplings at a cozy table flanked by drawn curtains.

Barking Crab Seaport District

map

With its red-and-yellow-striped tent on the shoulder of the Fort Point Channel, the Barking Crab is a Boston landmark unto itself. But that’s not what packs its wooden deck year-round (it helps that there’s a wood-burning stove in winter). Crowds come to feast on New England seafood classics like steamed lobsters, clambakes, and yes, crab, served with corn on the cob and plenty of warm butter. Lobster rolls, meanwhile, make for a less labor-intensive meal.
