Jamaican chef Charles Blake and his New Orleans-born wife, Lauren, have good news for fans of their popular food stall at Pythian Market: their new bi-level Uptown restaurant expands on the theme with a larger menu (including beef short ribs and whole red snapper) and two bars — one is dedicated to Jamaica’s signature spirit, rum.

Since 2016, this family-owned-and-operated spot has been serving up Jamaican classics in New Orleans (first with 14 Parishes on Oak), from coconut shrimp and curry chana to jerk pork and oxtails. The Algiers Point outpost offers a generous, breezy space to enjoy it all — we recommend the jerk sampler that feeds a few, and to keep an eye out for chef Charles Blake’s monthly 5-course dinner series.
