Nashville native and chef Julia Sullivan is an expert in all things seafood, from raw oysters to crave-worthy hot crab dip and crispy fish and chips. Her cooking remains an ode to the Carolina low-country hospitality she learned from her grandparents, for whom she named the restaurant.

Because this hip Southern brasserie, located in one of Nashville’s grand dame hotels, doesn’t disappoint. Mason’s is a solid breakfast, lunch, and dinner spot with an updated menu of classics, from pimento cheese fritters with citrus gastrique to chicken breast roulade with black-garlic risotto.

With a menu designed to match Tennessee’s agrarian landscape, you can’t go wrong with whatever you order here. And, like a proper grange, this restaurant’s airy and spacious dining room — housed within the lobby of The Grand Hyatt — is always inviting, especially for a cocktail or two.

In a place where New Mexican fare is hard to come by, Sopapilla’s comes to the rescue with its inventive takes on classic dishes like enchiladas, tamales, and, of course, sopapillas. Don’t sleep on the smoked brisket queso, or the Hatch green chile margarita.

Nestled into what was formerly one of the city’s largest steam cleaning facilities, Old Glory has kept much of its historic origins with its decidedly dive-bar-industrial vibe, and we’re here for it. Better yet, the drinks are on the up-and-up, with craft cocktails, beer, and wines to suit everyone’s tastes.

A tropical paradise awaits within this East Nashville bar and lounge where retro drinks like Mai Tais and Jungle Birds headline the cocktail menu, and uncomplicated — and delicious — bar food accompanies. This bastion of contemporary American cuisine has been serving up spinach-artichoke dip and chopped salads to Green Hills for years. Its tradition remains unscathed in its newish location, with all of your favorite entree salads, burgers, and much more.

The movie “Big Night” finds its real-life audience during Mangia’s Saturday night dinner parties. Dine on multiple courses while singing, dancing, and drinking red wine. During the week, from Wednesday to Saturday, the family meals to go are also a huge draw, especially if singing, dancing, and drinking at home are more your speed these days.

Nashville native Curt Cole has been at the heart of Green Hills’ dining scene for decades. This second incarnation of his Bandywood restaurant — you might remember it as Firefly Grille — goes strong with thoughtful twists on Southern favorites, like grilled pork chops or a classic half barbecue rotisserie chicken.

An absolutely massive arcade emporium with pinball machines, vintage arcade games, and multiple full bars to please every gamer. We’re big fans of the outdoor patio with firepits, too, especially considering the addition of large outdoor games like giant Jenga.
