Pammy’s plays loose and fast with the rules of Italian cooking, in the best way — with dishes like lamb belly piadina with green papaya ferment and yogurt, or their house-classic lumache Bolognese with tangy gochujang sauce. A Hawthorne vet is now helming the bar program; don’t miss the Banana Clipper, built with rum, banana liqueur, and sassafras syrup.

Cobble looks less like a restaurant and more like a tastefully furnished apartment, with a series of small rooms where well-spaced diners or private parties can partake in a chef’s whim-style Italian menu that might include oyster mushroom ravioli or chicken all cacciatora. Pro tip: Its BYOB status adds to the dinner party-feel.

You want a beer garden? Lord Hobo’s Seaport location features a massive outdoor deck and patio that can qualify as two. Pints of Boomsauce may be soaked up with fare from Bon Me, which will serve as the house food truck.

Oysters and tacos remain popular for a reason. Here, start with a half-dozen Moon Shoals or Row 34s before moving onto the taco side of the menu, which includes such options as Caribbean jerk carne asada, chipotle braised pork shoulder, and charred pineapple.

The focus on lighter, seafood-oriented “Coastal Italian” is the perfect antidote to red-sauce exhaustion. Dinner might start with a yellowtail crudo delicately topped with grapefruit and pickled chili before rising to ravioli with ‘nduja and corn, and finishing with grilled black bass.

This Porter Square fave remains that way thanks to its Hearty pub fare like the 1667 Burger, made with melted cheddar, bacon, pickles and special sauce on an onion roll. If you can nab a seat on their backyard patio, don’t skip a pitcher of Blood Orange Margaritas.

Lin’s take on Laotian and Cambodian fare makes for a welcome addition to Newburyport’s dining scene. Split between the playful “snacks” side of the menu — provides taro fries with salted soybean aioli, or “Momma’s Egg Rolls” served alongside the traditional Laotian spice paste, jeow van — and a more substantial side, with seared fish tacos with tamari vinegar and either chicken or pork larb.

What’s not to like about drinks designed by an A-team of Boston bartenders, served entirely on tap? And all made even better with the small menu of dishes including “The Spanish Italian” sandwich made with chorizo, serrano ham, prosciutto, Manchego, mustard, and peppers.

Cheddar and scallion Parker House rolls, clam dip with old bay pita chips, buttered lobster rolls on house-made brioche — what you come for are Boston classics for residents, not tourists. It’s also the place to give into your temptation for a Dirty Martini or a White Cosmo, safe in the knowledge that you’ll receive an finessed version of each.

A beer garden in the heart of Central Square is tempting enough, but the addition of barrel-aged Belgian tripels on draft and the Italian lager-inspired “Strega Nona” make it nigh-impossible to pass up. Don’t miss $3 hot dogs, or a Buffalo chicken dip made with candied bacon. 

The antithesis of the rowdy waterfront restaurant. Instead you’ll find a thoughtful, daily changing menu focused on local farms and seafood purveyors. Don’t miss dishes like the clam chowder with lobster, smoked halibut and torn sourdough croutons.

Oh, the options! Come for dinner, whether you’re in the mood for North Shore-style bar pizza from Hot Box, vegan poutine from Saus, or beef-and-chimichurri empanadas from Buenas. Stick around for pours of natural wine at Rebel Rebel, or a draft of dry-hopped dark ale courtesy of Remnant Brewing.

Jibarito, a dish that places slow-roasted pork, smoked ham, gruyere, pickles, Dijon mustard and pimento aioli between fluffy tostones, is alone worth a visit. And that’s to say nothing of the other specialties, including corn fritters with goat cheese mousse and brown butter honey, or ropa vieja.

Newburyport’s sister restaurant to Brine Oyster Bar and Boston’s Oak + Rowan delivers the goods from land and sea. Among the hits: short ribs and octopus with yuzu yogurt and pickled fresno; clams and pancetta with grilled lemon and white wine; and duck breast accompanied by coffee jus and cast iron-cooked carrots.

We love the way that Thistle + Leek looks across the pond for inspiration, serving London gastropub-inspired fare, like griddled nectarines with house ricotta, smoked bluefish agnolotti with tomato butter, and duck rillettes with a smear of grain mustard on toast.
