The October Hit List: Osteria Lupo, Saint John, Plates, and More

By

After a particularly long, hot slog through summer accompanied by the customary annual dearth of restaurant news and activity, New Orleans’ restaurant scene is once again hotter than a New Orleans summer day.

Your October Hit List has the scoop. With cooler weather upon us, it is no longer unthinkable to order a satisfying bowl of gumbo, Louisiana’s version of mother’s milk. Luckily, Café Reconcile serves up celebrated versions. Elsewhere, newcomer Plates and time-tested Lola’s are pushing tapas and globally influenced fare grounded in local ingredients. Jewel of the South has partnered with Moveable Feast to bring luxe dinner parties to your home, and, in the middle of the month, chef Eric Cook will turn over his kitchen at Saint John to a group of Afghan chefs for a specialty dinner to build awareness and welcome for those newly settled here.

Read on to see what’s in store for a very memorable autumn.
