New on Resy: Toki Restaurant, Tasty, Montesacro Pinseria, and More

With their appearances on Netflix and Hulu, it was only a matter of time before celebrity restaurateurs Peter Cho and Sun Young Park opened a counterpart to Han Oak, their nationally acclaimed take on Korean homestyle food. This second, much anticipated restaurant retains popular favorites like dumplings and noodles, and also incorporates additionally well-known dishes like bibimbap. However, the Steamed Bao Burger, dubbed the country’s first reheatable cheeseburger, and the Gim-bap Supreme, a TikTok and Taco Bell-inspired nori sandwich, prove that innovation is the name of the game here.

Tucked in the shopping center of Mercato Grove, Tasty is one of several top-tier Portland restaurants making this upscale suburban development its new home. The brunch menu includes American classics such as French toast alongside internationally-inspired dishes like the bibimbap bacon and eggs. Expect to see favorites from Tasty ‘N Sons for dinner, including a revived version of the Tasty Burger now topped with sharp cheddar cheese. While the food and feel are reminiscent of its Toro Bravo predecessors, the sleek space is definitely an expansion, boasting a 100-seat outdoor patio and indoor capacity to rival.

First things, first: It’s pinsa, not pizza. Montesacro makes the fluffy Roman flatbread with a blend of imported rice, soy and wheat flours from Rome, and tops it with a variety of ingredients, from fresh mozzarella and mortadella to guanciale and fried eggplant. Though the pinsa is the thing to order while you’re here, don’t sleep on the housemade pasta or the roasted cauliflower.

Because the shaded poolside is a necessary respite from the heat of the summer sun. After getting your tan on, transport yourself to a tropical paradise with playful cocktails like the Cabana Boy, made with rum, coconut cream, and pineapple juice. Then sample a few tapas like the crab tostas and pork tacos before hitting the water.

You’d be well advised to sip on raki, also known as “lion’s milk,” a 90-100 proof anise-based liquor when you dine at Lokanta. The homey Turkish tavern has captured the hearts (and taste buds) of both Turkish expats and Portland locals seeking to expand their palate beyond falafel and hummus (both of which do not make appearances on this menu). Instead, opt for one of the seasonally-rotating vegetarian starters like ayran asi, a chilled yogurt soup with chickpeas, or peynirli pide, a flatbread stuffed with feta and onions. Pro tip: Pair the raki with food and water to stay hydrated.

This speakeasy bar concocts swanky cocktails with a focus on gin and table-side absinthe service. A live jazz pianist, dry-aged steaks, and outdoor cigar gazebos hearken back to the extravagance of the Great Gatsby era. Ladies and gentlemen, flappers and bootleggers, all are welcome to this grandiose soiree.

With contemporary decor, greenery, and large windows for natural light, Bar West blends seamlessly into the surrounding trendy Nob Hill shopping district. After strolling through the Victorian boutiques, sip on a classic Bloody Mary for brunch or refresh yourself in the evening with an original concoction like the Tamolitch Falls, made with Tequila and butterfly pea flower tea. Pro tip: Bring a friend and split that almond buttermilk pancake stack.
