Central District
Recently named one of the 12 best new restaurants in the world by Condé Nast Traveler, this “Seattle soul” restaurant from chef Kristi Brown and son Damon Bomar has definitely been wowing crowds. It was a rocky pandemic opening for the team, but they’re back on track at this colorful spot on the historic site of Liberty Bank, the first Black-owned bank in the Pacific Northwest.
Dishes like smoky berbere grilled chicken, black-eyed peas hummus, and the fried catfish po’mi — a mashup sandwich inspired by New Orleans via Saigon — deserve all the accolades. Which … the attention immediately made Brown’s restaurant one of the hottest bookings in town (if not the entire West Coast) so start keeping an eye out for open spots in July.
