Resy’s New Suite of Features Help Restaurants + Diners Navigate The Future of Dining Out

By

Resy also announces it will charge restaurants $0 to use ResyOS through the end of 2020

Resy, a subsidiary of American Express, will roll out new features this month that address the new realities of dining. The new features include an Automated Capacity Monitor that allows restaurants to set a capacity limit — say 50% — on their dining room to help ensure they don’t exceed occupancy regulations; a Mobile Waitlist tool that allows diners within close proximity of a restaurant to join a live waitlist and reduce host stand + bar area crowding; Resy at Home – Resy’s meal ordering and contactless pickup functionality that provides restaurants an additional revenue stream and diners a way to bring a bit of the restaurant experience home with them, and more. See additional product details below.

Additionally, Resy has committed to extending 100% relief on all Resy fees through December 31, 2020. This will apply to both existing restaurant partners and new restaurant partners. This means a restaurant not currently using a reservation platform can sign up for Resy at no cost to them, to help manage their business going forward. Current and new restaurant partners will have access to Resy’s full range of services, including: reservations, flexible floorplans, CRM, ticketing, no-fee pickup, a presence on Resy.com, inclusion in editorial content, and access to a globally-connected consumer network powered in collaboration with American Express.

COMING SOON! Resy will roll out new features designed to help restaurants and diners navigate dining out in a new restaurant world.

Resy recognizes that as restaurants do reopen, they will operate differently, with safety and security as the top priority. Additionally, restaurants’ business models will evolve, and revenue streams like pickup will become more important. New features, launching in May, address these new realities and include:

  • Mobile Waitlist: With Resy’s new Mobile Waitlist feature, guests can add themselves to a restaurant’s waitlist through the Resy app on their mobile phone if they are in close geographic proximity to the restaurant, preventing host stand and bar area crowding. The restaurant then alerts guests via SMS when they are ready to welcome them in. Similar to Resy’s beloved Notify feature – which allows guests to add themselves to a Waitlist for a specific date/time, and notifies them if the table they are looking for opens up – Mobile Waitlist is like Notify-on-the-go, for the age of social distancing.

  • Automated Capacity Monitor: This new feature helps restaurants manage against occupancy regulations by setting a capacity limit — say 50% — and automatically disabling online reservations in ResyOS when the capacity is reached. An operator using this feature will receive alerts as they approach the limit.

  • Open Date Alert: This new feature lets restaurants keep guests in the loop about their reopening date. Restaurants that use this tool will get included in curated email digests sent to Resy diners. Additionally, if a diner adds a restaurant to their “My Hit List”, they are subscribed to receive updates about the restaurant’s reopening.

  • Resy At Home: Resy’s meal ordering and contactless pickup functionality will soon be fully integrated into the Resy booking widget, meaning guests can order pickup through a restaurant’s reservation page. This functionality gives restaurants the option of an additional revenue stream, at no cost to them or the guest (aside from standard credit card processing fees).
    • So many restaurants have shown incredible flexibility, innovation and creativity over the last several weeks, as they have had to pivot – and in many cases reinvent – their business models in order to survive. Resy recognizes that restaurants will continue needing multiple, diversified revenue streams when they reopen, and Resy At Home was created to enable that.
    • Coming soon: exclusive-to-Resy dishes and collaborations curated by the team at Resy with top chefs + restaurants.

Additional ways Resy is supporting restaurants, and connecting restaurants with guests, include:

  • Resy’s links integration with restaurants’ Venue Pages: In March, Resy released a module feature that integrates with a restaurant’s Venue Page, allowing them to stay connected with guests and promote all the different ways their customers can support them.

  • Resy’s Discover Restaurants to Love – at Home brand programming: Resy is still the restaurant-loving partner in crime that celebrates, spotlights and curates all-things dining… even if that’s happening at home, these days! Discover guides to takeout, restaurants selling wine, lists of “what we miss most” and more at Resy.com; take part in Resy’s #TakeoutTuesday challenges on Instagram; and stay tuned for exclusive-to-Resy collabs with top chefs.

  • Added marketing value for restaurants, thanks to American Express
    • FREE Resy.com restaurant listing: American Express recently launched Stand for Small, a platform featuring a group of leading companies that support small businesses. American Express is kicking off its offerings on the platform with a valuable service from Resy, a subsidiary of American Express. Restaurants can receive a free restaurant page listing on Resy.com to help support takeout, gift card sales and more through December 2020.
    • American Express Card Member dining offers & incentives: American Express is rolling out a series of Card Member offers that incentivize and reward Card Members for spending with the restaurants they love, such as 2X Membership Rewards on Seamless/Grubhub for all US Membership Rewards enrolled Card Members. These build on the rich dining rewards and benefits already offered on many of their Cards.
