New on Resy: Safta, Palizo Italiano, The Woods

Safta means ‘grandmother’ in Hebrew, and though our grandma’s place never looked as sleek as chef Alon Shaya’s beautiful Denver debut, there’s something that’s instantly warm and soothing about it. The James Beard Award-winning chef cooks up an Israeli-focused menu, with addicting wood-fired pita (definitely order some hummus) and an incredible honey bourbon cake.

Craving some simple and honest Italian food? Head on straight to Palizo Italiano, chef-restaurateur Patrick Mangold White’s fourth restaurant in the Platt Park community. From Bolognese pappardelle to veal Milanese, the farm-to-table spot plays the classics beautifully, alongside craft cocktails and a boutique wine list.

Perched up high in the Source Hotel, the Woods is a beer temple with 46 drafts on tap, including house brews and pours from the New Belgium Brewery. The stripped-down, yet striking, space serves American plates, sandwiches and pizza. But the patio is the real stunner, with breathtaking views of the Rocky Mountains and Denver skyline.

Inspired by his extensive travels to Mexico and the Southwest’s Four Corners, chef Christopher Medved brings a fresh Tex-Mex cuisine to Colorado’s Golden community. Get some chicharones with peppers, sit out on the sprawling outdoor patio, and order a margarita (rumor has it that Nomad Taqueria is vying for the best in town).

A tribute to the military’s historic officers’ clubs, this modern supper club takes you back in time. Officers Club is a drinking destination with no less than 10 Old Fashioned variations, as well as classic American fare, from Maryland crab cakes to prime rib French dip. Pro-tip: take your drink out on the patio and sip along to live music.

With Acreage, Stem Ciders brings its urban tap room to a grassy hilltop in Lafayette. In addition to Stem’s amazing on-tap ciders, locavore chef Daniel Asher cooks up a seasonal menu featuring tasty wood-fired fare, from smoked pork spare ribs to duck confit salad.

Step right up to Denver’s favorite jazz club. Housed in the historic Baur’s building, Dazzles is an iconic music venue that includes an in-house bakery, café, and a boutique record store, alongside its exceptional live music.
