Miami’s Newest Restaurant Openings, Now on Resy

It’s sleek, dark, and intimate, and the concise seasonal menu changes every few weeks to keep things interesting. TBD positions itself as a wine bar first, so there’s plenty of interesting sips, but the dishes definitely don’t play second fiddle. Grab a date, check all expectations at the door, and give in to what’s at play here.

The warm golden hour hues, jewel-toned marble accents, and plentiful palms create a coastal vibe at Uchi’s sibling restaurant. Here, it’s more about the hearth, grill, and resulting char: There’s roasted lobster, grilled scallop with strawberry XO sauce, wagyu hot rocks, and smoky oysters. For longtime fans, don’t worry — there’s also the pristine sushi and creative small plates that put Uchi on the map.

It’s hard to say which is more electric at this Peruvian stunner, the vibrant, high-energy dining room and patio, or the stunning dishes coming out of the kitchen. A boatload of ceviche options (though the classic with corvino, choclo, and leche de tigre is a favorite), shrimp and calamari in anticuchera sauce, and the pisco sours are all highlights.

From the team behind Tâm Tâm comes a Chinese-American pop-up with a few twists. The menu might feel familiar, but when you tuck into dandan noodles with beef cheek, crab leg rangoons, and Hennessy orange chicken flambéed tableside, you know you’re in for something special.

Chef Tyson Cole’s contemporary Japanese restaurant is sure to be a Wynwood staple. You’ll find a good mix of creative hot and cold dishes — big eye tuna crudo with aji amarillo and pumpkin seed granola is a hit in the making — plus impeccable sushi and sashimi, electric vibes, and a stunning space.

There’s a good chance you’ll see at least one celebration at this gem of a steakhouse. The bustling space lends itself very well to group dinners, after all: It’s big, boisterous, and filled with excellent dishes to share, like ham croquetas, charred steaks, and ibérico pork. Pro tip: You’re going to want to order at least one round of guava-rum cocktails.

With its minimalist design, Ikigai’s gorgeous room sets the stage for an outstanding sushi experience on Brickell Key. The word “ikigai” means “reason to live,” which you’ll feel when eating the glistening nigiri here, like freshly carved tuna atop perfectly seasoned rice, plus hot dishes like ribeye-wrapped asparagus and smoked kanpachi.

Chef Michael Solomonov’s name is synonymous with Israeli food in America — move through the menu here, and you’ll see why. For his first foray south of Philly, he’s bringing his expertise to a dynamic lineup of hummus, salatim, mezze, and charcoal-grilled meats, with a touch of Miami flair (amba-marinated short ribs, anyone?). You’ll want to order something from every section of the menu and pair your meal with some well-curated Middle Eastern wine.

There’s some serious pedigree behind the young pizzaiolo here, and it shows in every Neapolitan pie — ethereally thin and blistered to crisp and chewy perfection. Topping choices highlight classic combinations, but there’s some originals, too, like the meatball pie with parmesan fondue and a ricotta-stuffed crust.

You can feel the familial influences in every piece of this North Miami spot. Named in honor of chef Raz Shabtai’s grandmother, the menu centers their Israeli heritage with a contemporary spin and a local and seasonal sensibility. Bites like liver pâté with pistachio crumble, beets with vegan tzatziki, and lamb kebabs steal the show.

The NYC stalwart known for its romantic Italian countryside charm, sourdough pizzas, and handmade pasta brings much the same to Wynwood, only with an urban farm and a few more Miami-esque seafood offerings. It’s part dining room, part dinner party in the garden, where you might be eating eggplant plucked from the vines that surround you that morning. Spritzes, cocktails, and a wine list heavy on picks from the Old Country round things out.

Open, airy, and tropical, this Dolphin Mall spot is definitely meant for fun. You’ll want a few pals to help with those plates of salmon crispy rice and Peruvian fried seafood platters, and be sure to save room for the elaborate cocktails and mega milkshakes.

Sitting on the patio of this Art Deco gem is a perfect vantage point to watch the buzzing South Beach scene. During the week, fill up on breakfast and lunch staples — eggs over-easy, avo toast, burgers, and fries — before (or after) hitting the sand. On weekends, it’s all about the DJ-fueled brunch.

12 years after closing their award-winning restaurant, acclaimed chef Michelle Bernstein and husband David Martinez have reopened Sra. Martinez in Coral Gables, and the result is a stunner. Think pink terrazzo floors, plush seating, and live music, with returning staples (like croquetas, but this time in carbonara and paella flavors) and dishes like mushroom shawarma, aged steaks with Spanish chimichurri, and sherry cobblers.

It’s fitting that Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo make their way to Miami (they got their start in Florida) with their version of Italian-American-via-Los Angeles staples. Think little gem lettuce salads with Calabrian chile dressing, crunchy mozzarella sticks, meatballs, damn good pizzas (the L.A. Woman is a classic), tonnarelli cacio e pepe, rainbow cookies, and soft serve.

Chef Eyal Shani brings his kosher Mediterranean headliner to West Palm Beach via Tel Aviv, and the same classic whimsy is on the menu. Expect familiar dishes like his “a very Israeli hummus so close to perfection,” the famous Malka schnitzel, and “whole fish roasted on a terrifying fire.” Pro tip: The espresso martini with tahini defies everything you know about espresso martinis.
