ZIG ZAG CAFE Below Pike Place Market
Newly added!
It’s a little slice of jazzy heaven hidden among the market’s hustle and bustle. There’s a lot to love here: the dimly lit, red-hued room, excellent cocktails (and lots of zero-proof options), and food that fits the mood, from duck-fat popcorn to an excellent burger.
Shomon Kappo Sushi Belltown
Newly added!
Get ready for a kappo-style experience that serves a nightly multicourse menu around a 14-seat counter and small dining room. You’ll find gorgeous presentations of small bites, like slow-cooked wagyu with lotus root, soft cod roe tofu with sweet miso, and sushi, sake, wine, and more.
Banaras Crossroads Bellevue
This lively Crossroads Bellevue spot is pretty sleek, with gleaming white tables and décor creating the perfect backdrop for colorful vegetarian dishes and creations. Focusing on tastes and ingredients from Banaras (Varanasi) along the Ganga River in eastern India, you’ll find modern takes on this traditional cuisine.
Bottlehouse Madrona
This cozy Madrona wine bar is everything a neighborhood spot should be. The menu features natural wines (some on tap), bubblies, apéritifs, and wine-focused cocktails. For food, think light salads, ham-and-Gruyère sandwiches, almonds and roasted olives, and short rib toast.
Light Sleeper Capitol Hill
Go here when you expect the unexpected. Or when you just want a few snacks like olives or porcini topped with paper-thin cured pork jowl, a bowl of shrimp risotto, and a glass of something crisp, biodynamic, and mineral. The vibes — plant tendrils and all — are totally on point.
La Palmera Family Mexican Restaurant – Everett Everett
From the friendly staff to the Mexican comfort food — rice, refried beans, homemade sauces and salsas — you feel the familial vibe from the get-go. Practically an Everett institution, La Palmera is known for its massive menu, margaritas, and huge platters of nachos, burritos, and more. It’s a great spot for big groups, solo lunch runs, or happy hour, which happens to run twice every day.
Also book the South Lake Union or Mill Creek locations.
LJ’s Bistro Lake Stevens
Because this is a hidden Lake Stevens gem that’s worth seeking out, whether you’re a local or just passing through. It’s all just right: The room that doesn’t try to outdo itself; the perfectly made martinis and Manhattans; and the thick-cut pork chop with a bacon mustard cream sauce that’s on almost every table.
STK Bellevue Bellevue
Lines swooping from the ceiling to the floor, lots of white leather, huge booths, and dramatic purple lighting — this is not your daddy’s steakhouse. The chain is known for its perfectly grilled steaks, chilled shellfish towers, great cocktails, and party vibe — and the Bellevue outpost delivers.
Noodle/Bar Cascade
The Plenty of Clouds team is at it again. This time it’s hand-pulled noodles (made with Washington wheat, no less) inspired by regional Chinese dishes, plus lots of local brews that make it all worthwhile. Get the Wanza mian — brothy wide noodles, topped with ground pork, Chinese broccoli, and chickpeas — it’s soul-affirming on those typical rainy Seattle days.
