Daniel Boulud might have been born near Lyon, but when he journeys down to the Mediterranean coast, you’ll definitely want to come along. That’s the inspiration for this vivid, light-flooded place, where Boulud, one of American’s finest chefs, turns his hand to everything from a mezze plate to bouillabaisse.

Prepare to be dazzled when you ascend to this stylish sky-high (well, 18th-story) aerie at the 1 Hotel with its 360º views of South Beach and the city, where chef Giancarlo Valera prepares Japanese specialties with a Miami flair and the signature dishes include miso grouper and hot pot rice with truffles and wild mushrooms.

When you’re feeling a choose-your-own-adventure kind of night, you’ll find plenty of options at this North Miami spot. Maybe it’s Wagyu sliders at the bar, or sharing sushi rolls with friends along with other small plates. Stick around long enough, and you’ll be dancing to DJs with a flaming margarita in hand.

For when you need a burger after taking on the back nine, or at least when you want to watch others finish their golf game. The expansive dining room has it all: eggs Benedicts at breakfast, big salads at lunch, and steaks and seafood at night.

This very pretty restaurant at the SLS makes a perfect date night spot (thanks, great lighting!) for cocktails and carbonara, or simply an early dinner with friends. Think wood-fired pizzas with stracciatella and soppressata, Aperol spritzes, and salads to share.

Everything you’ve heard is true: self-taught baker Zak Stern’s challah, babka, and pastries are insanely good; the sandwiches, soups, and salads make any brunch or lunch worth the long lines; and the flourless chocolate cookies are the stuff of dreams. With its vibrant, cheerful facade, Wynwood’s lively kosher bakery and café is all that and more.

No matter what city this omakase restaurant lands in, it’s one of the most unique experiences, bar none. More intimately-lit speakeasy than restaurant, with only a few seats along the L-shaped counter, you’ll sample nigiri and sushi with various salts, top-notch ingredients like aged bluefin akami, Hokkaido scallop, truffles, and so much more. It’s a vibe, it’s an experience.

A pizzeria by award-winning chef and restaurateur Michael Schwartz was destined to be anything but ordinary. And boy, does Harry’s deliver. Whether Miami Beach or Coconut Grove, the neighborhood joint gives classic red-sauce vibes with fried mozzarella sticks, meatballs, and delicious pies that run the gamut from traditional to French onion soup-inspired.

Michelin-starred in two cities — the Design District and original NYC outpost have many accolades between them — Cote marries the best of Korean barbecue with American steakhouse panache. That means steak tartare and caviar service, but also a “butcher’s feast,” which features four cuts of meat with an array of sides, and a 10-course steak omakase menu. It’s really a choose-your-own-adventure for carnivores.

Meatballs, eggplant marinara, and spicy seafood linguine are just a few reasons to hit this New York import in Sunny Isles. The vibe is way more Miami here with ocean views — the patio overlooks the Acqualina Resort pool and beachfront. P.S.: If a big brunch buffet is your scene, this is the place.

It’s hard to dismiss a really good fire dancer, and the performers who work their way through the tables at this rooftop party spot do not disappoint. The all-outdoor space is open and breezy, with a Tulum-meets-Greece-via-Miami vibe. It carries over to the menu as well, where you’ll find dips and breads, steaks and seafood, and pretty cocktails.

If the name doesn’t give it away, this Midtown spot is pretty keen on the classic Italian cocktail, with a number of versions, each delicious in their own right. But the plot twist: Elaborate sushi rolls and more traditional nigiri are served alongside things like paccheri pasta, truffle burgers, and roasted cauliflower steaks. The international chain, which started in Argentina, has a growing U.S. fanbase from here to Weston to L.A.

From the same group behind Negroni comes this Italian-leaning spot that has everything we love, from roasted cauliflower with bagna cauda to pizza topped with mortadella and artichokes. The spritz bar is pretty much everything, whether you opt for a mezcal number with orange, or one made with sake, St. Germain, and Prosecco. Mix and match for a fun night.

The scene is lively as ever at one of Miami’s perennial club-restaurants. It’s the South of France meets South Beach in the swank palm-lined dining room, with a menu full of signatures, like tuna tartare and chicken in tarragon salt crust. For dessert, cracking into a tower of crêpes dentelles with banana cream and dulce de leche is a must. Stay late for the seemingly never-ending party.

The simple and sophisticated au naturel room both works for and with what’s coming out of this Little River kitchen. Think: Billowy wood-charred pizzas with zesty toppings like Sichuan peppercorns and za’atar, wonderful veg-forward dishes to pass around the table, and one of the most robust natural wine lists in the city.

A go-to for rollicking, rustic-chic good times, you’ll get a fix for everything from shrimp and grits to some of the best fried chicken around (with or without waffles). Bourbon is the drink of choice, whether it’s spiking blackberry lemonade or any of the myriad old fashioneds.

Walk through the door at this hidden Brickell gem and you’re instantly transported somewhere, anywhere, that isn’t Miami. A blend of Mexican and Peruvian influences, and endlessly charming familial hospitality, make this place special. Hits include the aguachile shrimp tiradito and the pear pasta with passionfruit sauce.

Family-owned, and you feel it, this unpretentious Downtown spot is exactly the kind of place you want to find when the pasta craving kicks in. Linguine and clams, homemade pappardelle with wild boar sauce, and other favorites are done just right.

A few sips of a banana bread old fashioned or a cucumber collins, and you’ll feel the neon on the wall of this local’s hang: You are exactly where you need to be. The vibe is always fire, whether it’s a themed night or just another cocktail gathering among friends.

Perennial multi-hyphenate David Grutman, co-owner of Swan, Papi Steak, and Komodo among other party spots around Miami (and the country), joined forces with Bad Bunny for this Japanese-inspired steakhouse. It’s sexy, it’s lavish, it’s the place for going big or going bigger: oysters with watermelon granita, o-toro sushi with 24-karat gold leaf, and a flight of A-5 wagyu.

Swan could rest its laurels on the fact that Miami uber restaurateur David Grutman and Pharrell Williams own the joint, but it’s so much more than that. Sure, the dining room swims with celebrities, but everyone’s really there for the agnolotti, pistachio pizza, and porterhouse for two. The outdoor garden is selfie heaven.

This is David Grutman’s take on an all-American bar and grill, albeit one with a midcentury mod-meets-Brazil look. It fits Coconut Grove, right down to the caviar and potato chips, surf and turf sushi roll, and truffle fries.

Pure unadulterated flamingo fun is what this cocktail bar is all about. From the “No Flocks Given” neon to the electric tropical ambiance, the space oozes Miami. Fantastic riffs on classics, like the Pina Not Colada made with mezcal and pineapple shrub, remind you that this isn’t about gimmicks.

Friendly and convivial from morning till night, Lulu’s has all the trappings of a perfect Pineapple Grove neighborhood spot with a slight Irish lilt (the owners are from New York via Ireland). Get  brunch — including bottomless cocktails — any day of the week. At night, steak frites, Brussels sprouts Caesar, and fresh cocktails are the way to go. The place is always buzzing.

There’s a reason the Freehand Hotel’s tropical backyard oasis has won numerous awards and spurred many openings across the country. Go here to sip beautifully concocted drinks made with unique infusions and elixirs — things like Mack’s Fault, which turns the espresso martini trend on its head with coffee-infused, fat-washed bourbon, rye, and cardamom. Get easy-breezy snacks or the excellent burger when hunger strikes.

This isn’t just a posh, penthouse-high rooftop aerie overlooking Coral Gables — it’s also a dazzling restaurant under the direction of famed Italian chef Fabio Trabocchi, sitting atop the Miami outpost of his acclaimed D.C. restaurant, Fiola. Pro tip: Come at sundown for a view you won’t forget.

With its breezy terrace and cool, modern trattoria interior, this Miami Beach Italian — from the group behind Scarpetta and Baia Beach Club — offers three meals a day of just the kinds of things you want to eat, from eggs Florentine in the morning to rosemary lemon chicken at night.

Filled with greenery, pops of color, a wrap-around marble bar, an open kitchen, and one fantastic outdoor setting, this stunning space befits chef Brad Kilgore’s inspired menu and Bar Lab’s (Broken Shaker) imaginative cocktails. Don’t miss layered brioche, savory beignets with jerk oxtail, and grouper al pastor. You’ll hear about the martini service, but the fluffy green juice is the real show.

Every time you set foot in this historic house adjacent to the Freehand Miami’s courtyard (overseen by the same team behind Broken Shaker), it’s a different experience. Every room is distinctly decorated in a casual boho way, with a menu equally as eclectic: Go Florida raw bar one night, Euro gastropub another; even Haitian if you’re feeling it. The natural wine list and cocktails, as always, are not to be skipped.

Nikkei cuisine has taken Miami by storm, and you’ll find some of the best interpretations of it at this South American import. The menu is extensive but fun to peruse, from traditional nigiri sushi to ceviches, anticuchos, and wood-fired meats. As expected, the sake list and pisco cocktails are fantastic. What is surprising?
