New York’s Newest Restaurant Openings, Now on Resy

For homey, comforting, Palestinian classics, Albadawi always fits the bill. And now that this Brooklyn Heights mainstay has expanded to Manhattan, you have even more chances to indulge in their freshly made zaatar pita, creamiest of labne, and succulent ouzi lamb.

Because we’d trust the team behind Glasserie with pretty much anything, especially if it’s another spot in their home neighborhood. Come for the park views, all-day menu, and a perfect glass of wine (they don’t serve by the bottle here, so be ready to try a few).

It’s fresh sushi and sashimi at the bustling Urban Hawker food market that was once the dream of the late Anthony Bourdain and has now become one of the city’s best food halls for cuisines that hail from Singapore and beyond. Come to this sushi counter to be at the center of the action, and do know that excellent seafood is just a bonus

Freshly made pasta, warm hummus, and vinyl-only DJ sets — that’s Nina. Don’t skip the gorgeously braided sesame bread or the Instagram-ready cocktails, either.

It’s a sprawling, cozily lit space serving up Italian comfort classics like spaghetti pomodoro alongside lesser-seen dishes like eggplant sformatino. Pro tip? It’s an all-day cafe, so stop by for a coffee or quick lunch, too.

Come here for optimal Times Square views from the eleventh floor of the Tempo by Hilton hotel. We’re here for the creatively crafted cocktails, but we wouldn’t skip the Nathan’s Famous mini hot dogs, either.

It’s the Brooklyn outpost of Manhattan’s scene-iest faux-dive. Here, there’s pool, disco balls, fried bologna sandwiches, alongside a collection of beautiful, cool people that rivals a Calvin Klein ad.

Like its sister spot, Maison Premiere in Williamsburg, Tigre makes you feel like you’re someplace else. Where Maison Premiere transports you to New Orleans, your final destination at Tigre takes you to the past, but it also isn’t quite as clear — all you know is that you don’t quite feel like you’re in New York anymore. Don’t sleep on the cocktails, of course; we’re partial to the pasilla chile-infused Agave and the customizable martinis.

From Emmeline Zhao, one of the partners behind the beloved Silver Apricot, comes Figure Eight, a Chinese American spot with superb seafood and an equally creative menu as its next-door sister. Think country-fried hamachi collar, an egg waffle made with hush puppy batter, and pineapple bun pull-apart rolls.

This sister of Carroll Gardens favorite Cafe Spaghetti serves up classic dishes, done up to a T, like a juicy burger, rich clams casino, and comforting creamed spinach. The bar is particularly bumping, and the vibes are just as pleasant and charming as you’ll find over at the cafe.

Chef Andrew Carmellini is behind many New Yorkers’ favorite restaurants, from Bar Primi and Locanda Verde to Lafayette, and this restaurant — the first to bear his name — marks his return to fine dining in the luxurious and elegant setting of the Fifth Avenue Hotel. The menu here blends French and Italian influences — everything from sole Normande and squab en croûte to lobster cannelloni with Osetra caviar.

The Portrait Bar is like stepping into another life, one where you’re comfortable, financially stable, and also in possession of some handsome floor-to-ceiling bookshelves. It’s an escape in the best sense of the word, with a menu of delicious bites from chef Andrew Carmellini (think foie gras terrine and crispy oysters), and handcrafted cocktails that are fussy in all the right ways.

Come here for Dominican Trinidadian cuisine that just also happens to be 100% plant based. Think mofongo made with lion’s mane mushrooms, hearts of palm ceviche, and plantain boats with “beef” alongside fresh-pressed juices and vegan wines.

A casual, homey spot for Italian cooking that’s perfect for a weeknight date from the team behind Cafe Colette. Enjoy fresh-baked bread, housemade pasta, and plenty of antipasti for you and yours.

It’s the rebirth of one of the original New York supper clubs, in the townhouse it’s called home for a century. The menu, too, runs classic, with shrimp cocktail, steak tartare, and strip streak. As if that weren’t enough, you should also know that Marilyn Monroe once sang at the piano that still resides in the dining room.

From the team behind The Smith and chef Brian Ellis, Parla is an all-day spot for all the good things: pizza, pasta, and roasted veggies, all enjoyed best with a glass of wine or an espresso. It’s predictably cool inside, with lots of bright colors and no lack of fun details, too.

Don’t call it a comeback: The new Hoexters is a revival of the original Hoexters Market from the 1970s and 80s. All the best attributes are still there, including perfectly chilled martinis, steaks au poivre, and gargantuan shrimp cocktail. Also, if you’re going to become a regular you should know the “o” is silent.

It’s a Chinese American restaurant with a superb wine program from the executive chef of nearby Parcelle. Think fries shaken with seaweed, sweet and sour crispy fish, and boiled peanuts alongside a killer 300-plus bottle list.

From the owner of Midtown mainstay La Bonne Soupe comes Huda, a Levantine spot with plenty to love, especially in the form of grapes with tahini, shish barak (a ground beef-stuffed tortellini with yogurt sauce), and lamb au poivre.

It’s chef Eyal Shani’s first kosher restaurant in the U.S, by way of its original beloved location in Tel Aviv. All the classic whimsy of Shani’s menu remains intact, with “spinach melting into himself”, “a dear memory of a Jericho potato”, and “the best hummus plate you will ever eat” all on offer.

Head here for a relatively inexpensive 13-course sushi omakase, plus sake and beer imported directly from Japan. While you’re there at the intimate tasting counter, don’t overlook the design details, too, including the gorgeous exposed stone at the base of it.

It’s the latest concept to find a home at Bushwick’s 99 Scott, an art-kid hangout that rotates themes frequently. Chalet is perfect for the season, with a pre-fixe menu of fondue, schnitzel, and caviar, located right next to an ice rink and holiday market.

Do enjoy a glass of natural-minded wine beneath The Noble’s enormous front windows. And don’t skip the food, either. Think grilled octopus, whipped dips doused in olive oil, and citrusy raw fish.

Come here for both à la carte and omakase sushi menus, each served without fuss. Atto is ideal for a quick bite for lunch or dinner in their sleek, wood-covered space.

Sushi on Jones has expanded to Brooklyn, and we couldn’t be happier (or hungrier). Here on Wythe, they’re serving the same affordable 12-course omakase for which they’re known for, alongside izakaya-style dishes like wagyu tartare.

Escape to a cozy ski chalet that just so happens to be helmed by one of the most acclaimed chefs in the world and located in the heart of Madison Avenue in Manhattan. There’s fondue, spaetzle, veal, and plenty of mulled wine to go around.

Make your pasta and eat it, too. At Aunt Jake’s, your three-course meal is preceded by a pasta-making class for a literally hands-on experience.

The beloved sushi bar of Park Slope has expanded once again to the Lower East Side. Known for affordable, excellent, fresh sushi, this location offers two omakase tasting and à la carte offerings like A5 wagyu with uni and seared salt and pepper toro.

GAUDir is back, and we couldn’t be happier. After an extended closure, you can once again sample their menu of modern Spanish tapas like grilled octopus with truffle mashed potatoes, tortilla española, and pan con tomate.
