Dallas’ Newest Restaurant Openings, Now on Resy

Seafood-lovers will jump for joy — or, more likely, scramble for a seat on one of the rounded green banquettes — when they get a look at the irresistible menu at this Knox Street fish and shellfish mecca from Greg and Nik Katz of Clifton Club and Beverley’s fame. Don’t miss the fried grouper sliders or the whole grilled snapper Mexico City style.

Did somebody say soup dumplings? Along with other dim sum specialties, they’re the focus — though not the only fare (yes, there is Peking duck) — at this Fort Worth Chinese destination overseen by chef Patrick Ru of Bushi Bushi Dim Sum fame. Servers will suggest wine pairings, or ask for the Emperor’s List, full of drinkable treasures.

An abundance of rich earth tones, hardwoods, and epic images of horses set the scene at this sophisticated and rustic dining room, open for three meals a day, at Fort Worth’s Bowie House hotel. The specialty of the house? Dry-aged local beef in several presentations.

Here’s a perfect spot for a date-night drink and more — a cozy, high-tone cocktail spot conceived by Brandon Cohanim, with award-winning Florida mixologist Ruben Rolon hand-crafting the libations, and a menu of appropriate small plates.

Local-born “Ciao House” contender Preston Paine displays his Italian chops at this bright Mediterranean dining room in Fort Worth’s Crescent Hotel. Talk about a hot restaurant: “400 gradi” is the oven temperature in Celsius (about 750ºF) that perfects the pizzas at this smash-hit Australian pizza group’s second Dallas area location. Antipasti, house-made pastas, and a few other dishes fill out the menu, but, well … pizza. You’re here for pizza.

For date night or just an evening out with friends, you’ll love Sicilian-American Leigh Hutchinson’s family-inspired Lower Greenville Italian for its warm lighting, its easy-going atmosphere, and its menu featuring hand-pulled mozzarella, house-made pasta, and Texas-bred Chianina beef.

Duro Hospitality (The Charles, El Carlos Elegante, etc.) scores again with this elegant French-Italian establishment — sumptuous white linens, marble floors — on the onetime site of the legendary Highland Park Soda Fountain, working delicious variations of classic fare, from Caesar salad to sole meunière.

Step inside Fort Worth’s 1927-vintage 1st National Bank building, now the home of this fish and shellfish emporium from Marcus Paslay (Clay Pigeon, Piatello), and find classic seafood dishes (oysters Rockefeller, lobster roll, moules marinières) in a comfortable dining room with a seems-like-it’s-been-there-forever vibe.

This one’s for fun: A gigantic welcoming hand reaches down from the ceiling at this sleek, contemporary spot in the old Coca-Cola building; music fills the air, and sports play out on high-def screens; the bar goes on forever; and the menu announces its intentions with signatures like gochujang duck drumettes and a mac & cheese burger with truffle aioli.

Pro tip: Stay on the lookout for reservations — with a grand opening set in October, Resys are about to drop very soon!

Dress to impress and keep an eye out for celebs at this flashy, sassy import from Miami (Busta Rhymes, Pharrell Williams, and various Kardashians like to play at the original) while you’re digging into the seductive nouvelle-Asian fare, from salmon tacos with eel sauce to plant-based kung pao chicken.

Here’s one you’ll want to know about: A chic retro-style lounge, softly glowing with you-know-what-color, upstairs from Victory Park favorite Royal 38, where the cocktails demand to be photographed and the small plates will keep you nibbling all night long.

You won’t go wrong at this handsome Preston Hollow venue from the group behind Il Bracco and Houston’s Balboa Surf Club, where the grill-focused American fare has Texas accents and the wine list includes seldom-seen treasures from California and France.

The original Quince, on a rooftop overlooking San Miguel de Allende, is known for its eclectic menu and its knockout views. In Fort Worth, the food is deliciously the same and the view looks out on the sparkling Trinity River. One must-order house classic: the lamb barbacoa dumplings with poblano confit and cilantro sauce.

You’ll want to put this stylish addition to the red-hot restaurant scene at The Star in Frisco on your Hit List for French-accented brunch, lunch, and dinner in a greenery-filled dining room with cool Tiffany-blue seating.

Because restaurateur Jon Alexis (of TJ’s Seafood Market & Grill) is in full command of his convivial neighborhood spot at Snider Plaza, with its sky-high windows, comfy horseshoe-shaped bar, and calamari-to-lamb-chops American-ish menu.

Bring your friends to this gorgeous Mexican/Latin American jewel in the Design District from the group behind The Charles and Sister, because the menu practically demands mixing, matching, and sharing — from ceviches and tiraditos, to vegetable plates and whole roasted fish.

Does Dallas need another Tex-Mex restaurant? Absolutely — especially when it’s opened by Jon Alexis, proprietor of the celebrated TJ’s Seafood Market, and features a vast streetside patio and a selection of ancho butter fajitas, along with first-rate versions of everything else you might expect.

After 23 years in the same location, restaurant veteran Mark Maguire’s easygoing upscale North Dallas neighborhood spot, known for its friendly service and international-tinged American menu, has moved to a new home a few miles down the road, with a second restaurant coming a bit further south in March — doubling Dallas diners’ pleasure.

Say hello to the first Texas outpost of L.A.’s celebrity-favorite pizzeria, owned by Candace Nelson of Sprinkles Cupcakes fame and actor Chris O’Donnell, with Naples-born pizzaiolo Daniele Uditi turning out “neo-Neapolitan” pies — including an acclaimed white “cacio e pepe” twist, with three kinds of cheese and cracked black pepper.

You might think you’re in a hip café in Melbourne or Sydney when you step into this bright, casual, friendly Aussie brasserie from the group behind New York City’s popular Hole in the Wall restaurants. Expect sausage rolls, sticky date pudding, and of course, smashed avocado toast — an Australian invention — for brunch.

Cheers to the dramatic rebirth of Hide Bar, formerly something of a neighborhood secret in Deep Ellum, but now a much-enlarged cocktail emporium (with food) in Lower Greenville, complete with a dazzling all-weather rooftop patio and a drink program based on housemade flavorings and mixes.

Because Veteran sushi chef Tomo Tamura retired after a long and distinguished career — then decided he wasn’t through, and opened this elegantly simple restaurant in Southlake, featuring rolls, nigiri, and an omakase kaiseki menu crafted with a master’s precision.
