Once a private upstairs club for those in the know, Sidecar is now open to the public, with reservations to boot. Still, they’ve maintained that exclusive feeling with a menu to match, serving up old New York classics that have been perfected downstairs at the flagship PJ Clarke’s since 1884.

Because the seafood menu here may rival the actual ocean. There’s a deep selection of raw bar delicacies, pastas, and classic appetizers like oysters Rockefeller and tuna tartare to keep you interested way past a single visit. Plus, the interior is opulent and tasteful, and the wine list, award winning.

Because Nai serves elevated tapas-style dining without any pretension. Think portobello carpaccio, boiled octopus, and braised short ribs with corn purée, served in a convivial wood-covered dining room. It’s a must-visit if you’re in the neighborhood.

We will never say no to fondue, especially when there are countless options for aged cheeses, marinated meats, and crispy golden croutons like there are at Taureau. This spot, attached to the French kitchen, La Sirène, is perfectly cozy and has a smell so good we wish we could bottle it.

The Upper West side location of French mainstay, La Sirène, is classically decorated, complete with red leather booths and woven wicker chairs. The menu is just as iconic, with French onion soup, Dijon mussels, and cornish hen au jus topped with a delicate orchid.

Pro tip: Book the Soho location, too.

Tacos, tacos, and more tacos — that’s why we come to Amigo. Order as many inventive and delicious varieties as you can, like the birria, tempura cod, or pork cheek tostada. And be sure to wash it down with a fresh, glistening margarita.

The New York sister of the Shanghai hot spot with the same name, Tri Dim serving traditional Chinese dishes that we can’t get enough of. Come here for Hunan-style crispy sea bass, perfect soup dumplings, and impossibly fluffy buns.

What’s not to love about a classy, high-end speakeasy tucked behind one of the city’s best Korean restaurants, Okdongsik? Pay extra attention to the GBB signature cocktail menu, with drinks like the Old Boy, with mezcal, Lillet, and Korean pear shrub. The lighting is mostly red and candlelit, just how we like it at our speakeasies.

Because Alta Calidad delivers truly creative Mexican cuisine. We may never stop thinking about the seasonal quesadilla, last served with pumpkin blossoms, or the crispy Brussels sprouts with guajillo chile honey and lemon. And the margaritas are also top tier, of course.

This Sunset Park spot knows how to use their namesake well. We’re very partial to the smoky guacamole and the towering steak, shrimp, chorizo, and chicken dish served in — you guessed it — molcajetes. Complete your meal with a margarita or a piña colada, and call it a night.

Don’t let the subdued black-and-white exterior fool you: Black Oak serves up some seriously good food. Think creamy fresh pastas, monster burgers overflowing with crispy prosciutto, and perfectly blackened octopus. They also serve stellar wood-fired pizzas until midnight in a neighborhood with very few late-night options, so do bookmark this gem and thank us later.

We can get behind an agave-focused cocktail bar that draws inspiration (and ingredients) from sunny Baja, California. The interior so reflects this, it almost makes us want to take up surfing and start calling people “dude.” Go for a drink, an order of queso fundido, and a positive change in perspective.

There’s nothing like elegant Italian fare served out of a historic brownstone in the West Village. We’re here for arancini with lemon and saffron, wood-fired pizza with crispy prosciutto, and pan-fried pork Milanese.

For hard-to-find Indian specialties, head to Jalsa — they’ve got uttapam, kati rolls, and a whole list of other soulful, satisfying dishes that we don’t get to see very often. Come here with a big crowd to try one of everything — they have plenty to cater to every diet in your friend group.

Exceptional wines, heaving charcuterie boards, and ratatouille jjigae aside, the vibes at Rosette are impeccable thanks to marble tabletops, an elegant bar, and greenery everywhere. Plus, not only does everything taste great, it’s also beautiful, too.

Sure, the baked truffle mac is delicious and the espresso martinis stay flowing, but we’re at Charlies for the brick walls, low lighting, and velvety curtains that make us forget our outside troubles as we order another round.

What could you ask more of a sprawling, two-story establishment with a no-frills menu of perfectly executed classics? Come here for chicken tenders, burgers, shepherd’s pie, and a draft beer, and leave happier than you were when you arrived.

Ayurvedic health benefits, plant-based cooking, and seasonal ingredients aside, we love Divya’s for the mung soup, cashew vegetable curry, and wide selection of teas. The service is warm with the cozy space to match.

Because we can always trust Omar Hernandez to give us a good time. His spot at La Goulue is no exception, with all the trappings of the fine-dining world alongside a good dose of vaudeville fun.

Because this isn’t your average hotel restaurant — HOWM (pronounced “home”) serves up breakfast, lunch, and dinner with Mesoamerican-inspired flavors. Come for the chipotle eggs Benedict, yucca fries, Cuban sandwich with slow-roasted pork, and of course, a party. Check out their rooftop, too.

This classic NYC college-kid hang just happens to also serve some killer buffalo wings, Fatso burgers, and fried Oreos. The fact that they have $4 Modelo all day every day, and basically every game you could ever want to watch is just the cherry on top.

We know you go to Cantina for the views of the city, but the gargantuan super tacos, dessert piñatas you can crack open yourself, and cocktails served in a half watermelon are just as worthy of a prime spot on your feed.
