Miami’s Newest Restaurant Openings, Now on Resy

Celebrated chef Thomas Keller (The French Laundry, Per Se) brought his famed Yountville and Vegas bistro to Coral Gables, which means more steak frites, roast chicken, mussels, and escargot for the rest of us. A beautiful salad Lyonnaise, a plate of chilled oysters, and a glass of Chablis just hits different here.

From the worn wood paneling to the mismatched yard-sale plates and Barbarella poster on the wall, everything about Tam Tam feels like it’s been around forever. Born out of a pop-up, these Vietnamese dishes (think sweet-sticky wings and lemongrass coconut clams) win over everyone. The food is meant for drinking, the wine and beers go with everything, and yes, that is a karaoke machine in the bathroom.

This isn’t just a taphouse for one of Miami’s best locally owned, independent breweries. Housed in a historic building with pool tables, Foosball, and other entertainments, it’s a brewery that downtown deserves. Definitely sample the beers, whether it’s something seasonal or the classic Marlins Lager, and throw down a burger or bao bun when you need sustenance.

More an homage to the original Schnitzel Haus than a copycat, this iteration has all the trappings of a fun night of comfort foods. Go for the schnitzel, of course, but don’t miss out on housemade pretzels with beer cheese, brats, and a pickle plate full of eggs, mushrooms, turnips, and more, plus lots of beer to drink in the beer garden.

Elegant French food that happens to be kosher sounds like a contradiction, but in the hands of chef Olivia Ostrow, it’s quite possibly Miami’s greatest mashup. From Lyonnaise salad to crab cakes with beet truffle mousse, everything down to the wine, beer, and sake (there are a few sushi offerings, after all) is kosher — and it’s almost as eclectic as the art on the walls. The dog-friendly patio is a nice touch.

Bookmark this Sunny Isles gem for European cuisine that always satisfies — Art Priori hopscotches between French onion soup, mezze, lobster ravioli, and Spanish octopus like few can (deliciously) do. Pro tip: Don’t miss happy hour for $10 cocktails and discounted bites.

When your tiradito is as colorful and beautiful as the art in the room, you have an Insta-worthy hit. Part food truck, part sit-down restaurant (with servers) inside a Design District gallery, Japanese-Peruvian fare veers from fried ceviche bombs to duck gyoza and grilled octopus with anticuchero sauce. BYOB means you can curate your own experience, too.

There is a lot of talent going on at this entertainment hub, and it’s not just whoever’s playing on stage. Cocktails traverse the globe, as does the food, especially since it includes options like winning Venezuelan arepas from The Maiz Project, burgers from Gutenberg, plus more from Mana Table and Dale Street Food. Think of it as a choose-your-own-adventure kind of night.

Do spritzes taste better from a rooftop? If it’s near a pool with sunsets and the Miami skyline, absolutely. Canned cocktails and other cool beverages, plus a tight grab-and-go menu, fuel the Citizen M bar. Great for a quick bite or a long lingering afternoon.

Not only does this little gem bring some of the most delicious cheeses from around the world to Miami, it also offers cheeses in various ways, like as building blocks in unbelievably delicious sandwiches and in one incredible Basque cheesecake. The gilded lily? Cheese sampling, wine pairings, and other special dinners held in the library room, a small temp-controlled marble-countered space for a fun, intimate experience.

This outpost of the Major Food Group’s brunch star sits on the second floor of Kith in the Design District. The menu is slightly pared down from others — no bagel tower, but there is caviar service — and you can still get that sliced-to-order smoked salmon and everything bagel, plus the same vibe and look (read: plush turquoise seats, brass accents, and booths). Don’t miss Kith-only sandwiches like The Maia, a turkey, swiss, muenster, and Russian dressing number.

Come to the West Palm branch of this celebrated downtown Manhattan pizza palace (with an outpost in Miami) for perfect thin-crust and old-fashioned square pies, all within a dazzling dining room with soaring ceilings and a 60-foot quartzite bar.

It might feel like you’re walking through the Copacabana in Goodfellas, but that’s by design. The reborn iconic Fort Lauderdale supperclub is filled with jewel tones, table lamps, photos of famous Italian Americans, and a stage set for live entertainment. Tableside Caesar salads, chicken parm, twice-baked potatoes gilded with truffles and cacio e pepe sauce are just the beginning. Dress up, dig in, enjoy.

You can’t help but smile when you say the name KooLuLu. Here, it’s meant to evoke happiness and conviviality, which is easy to muster with the Mediterranean-inspired spot in Surfside. Fresh pita and dips, hummus with mushroom and soft egg, and a smattering of kabobs and souvlaki — all kosher — are the way to go.

Somehow Tacombi, which started out as a Volkswagen bus on the beaches of Yucatán, then conquered New York with its beach-meets-retro setting, feels more right for Miami. This second location (the first is in the Design District) brings the stellar taco menu (al pastor, carnitas, carne asada and occasionally birria), plus pitchers of margaritas, and housemade aguas frescas.

Tables spill out onto Coral Gables’ Miracle Mile sidewalk with cascading bougainvillea overhead. Inside, it’s light and airy, filled with potted plants and more florals. All in all, a perfect setting for traditional Greek bites like beef kefte, grilled halloumi, and baklava.

Because La Strega’s Pembroke Pines sibling is just as lovely as the original. Mark this one for date nights and celebrations, and let the Italian steakhouse menu, genuinely warm service, and live music do the rest.
