Cora is his take on the perfect neighborhood Italian joint, complete with shareable starters (crispy fried favas, chicken liver mousse), a few pastas, and indelible wood-fired pizza. A cacio e pepe pie with a perfectly chewy and charred crust is hard to resist.

There’s a reason this is one of the hottest tickets for Korean barbecue in the Pacific Northwest. Tableside grilling is expertly guided by staff, everything from the juicy bulgogi to spicy marinated chicken is perfect, and the selection of banchan is unrivaled. Grab a few friends (or 10) and have a party for no reason at all.

This cozy Renton favorite is a staple for comfort food and good times, from lighter bites to full “I’m famished” dishes like meatloaf and seafood stew. Cocktails run the gamut, but a frozen margarita isn’t out of place even in the wettest of winter months.

The Plenty of Clouds team is at it again. This time it’s hand-pulled noodles (made with Washington wheat, no less) inspired by regional Chinese dishes, plus lots of local brews that make it all worthwhile. Get the Wanza mian — brothy wide noodles, topped with ground pork, Chinese broccoli, and chickpeas — it’s soul-affirming on those typical rainy Seattle days.

Because this is a hidden Lake Stevens gem that’s worth seeking out, whether you’re a local or just passing through. It’s all just right: The room that doesn’t try to outdo itself; the perfectly made martinis and Manhattans; and the thick-cut pork chop with a bacon mustard cream sauce that’s on almost every table.

From the friendly staff to the Mexican comfort food — rice, refried beans, homemade sauces and salsas —  you feel the familial vibe from the get-go. Practically an Everett institution, La Palmera is known for its massive menu, margaritas, and huge platters of nachos, burritos, and more. It’s a great spot for big groups, solo lunch runs, or happy hour, which happens to run twice every day.
