Because when two brothers open a restaurant in tribute to their grandmother, the food better make that matriarch proud, especially when said matriarch was at the head of a family-owned restaurant empire in Mexico. The Ramírez Degollado brothers succeeded with this beautiful and rustic space lined with clay pots, where the elegant menu sings of Oaxaca, Veracruz, Puebla, and the Yucatán (get the chicken in a mole made with nearly 40 ingredients).

What happens when an esteemed Philly restaurateur starts whistling a British tune? You get The Clocktower. Housed in the New York Edition hotel, this Stephen Starr gem calls back to the exclusive clubs of London — purple felt billiard tables, lustered woods, attentive staff — with a menu to match: think briny bivalves and Scotch eggs, as well as shepherd’s pie, tandoori chicken, and beef Wellington all fighting for table space.

Styled in the grandeur of the exclusive dining clubs of lore, Il Mulino remains a destination for fine Italian fare, retaining its white tablecloths setting and impeccable service for a meal that’ll take you from red-sauce classics to dry-aged steaks.

Because Kanoyama is where chef Nobuyuki Shikanai takes center stage, here to deliver a 20-course sushi omakase that garnered a coveted and very well-deserved Michelin star. We never thought we’d see the day when Ippudo took reservations, but here we are — and we couldn’t be happier. So, prepare yourself for their juicy pork buns and Karaka spicy ramen because they’re pretty darn close to perfection.

Helmed by none other than Jonathan Waxman, of Barbuto and roast chicken fame, Jams continues the acclaimed chef’s love affair with seasonal cuisine, cooking up the best of what’s fresh at the market, breakfast through dinner, only in Midtown this time around.

Cucina 8 ½ is dining with a side of theatrics from the moment you step in. We mean that literally as the first thing you’ll do is make your way down a grand, plush, and red-carpeted staircase to access your table, where live music and tableside preparations are part of the experience. Do get the towering cacio e pepe zucchini chips and a Cosmo — an episode of “Sex and the City” was filmed here, after all.

Torch and Crown is a great neighborhood brewery, known for its full bar, exceedingly good cocktails (try the Purple People Eater if beer isn’t your thing), and their delicious shareable plates. Our perfect evening consists of a few friends, a half dozen oysters, pork rinds, a cheese plate, shishito peppers, and a few glasses of their Please Advise IPA.

You might think you’re in Tulum when you settle into a chaise lounge amidst the palm trees in the sand, or sit down on a rustic wooden chair in the shade of a palapa with your ceviche or banana-leaf-wrapped branzino — and that’s the point, Manhattan skyline included. Welcome to this modern Mexican restaurant and lounge on Governor’s Island — which, as it happens, has three locations in the real Tulum as well.

Because Westville doesn’t kid around when they say they use the freshest of produce. Take the humble kale salad — a Resy staff lunch favorite — which packs flavor beyond what you’d expect, especially if you add some breaded chicken to it (you should). All in all, it’s a solid spot if you’re feeling healthy, though we should note that the French fries are mighty tasty, too.

Slava is a Ukrainian cocktail den in the former Pegu Club space that deals in vodka-infused shots and cheekily named drinks, plus the canons of Ukrainian cuisine (think chicken Kyiv and short rib-stuffed cabbage) and bacon-egg-and-cheese dumplings, or vareniki. Yes, you read that right.

Because there may be nothing more delightful than a place dabbling in both French and Mexican cuisines. Think nachos piled high next to garlicky escargots, or a steak frites and sizzling fajitas fighting for table space. Can’t picture it? Then you’re due for a visit to this lovely Mott Haven bistro.

Brooklyn Public House is something of a cherished tavern, what, with trivia nights, natural wine and great pints, and a menu that spans mussels and fries, bangers and mash, and one killer house burger (as every pub worth its salt should have). Extra love goes to the kitchen, which closes every night at midnight.

As a steakhouse in Crown Heights, Patrick is less pretense and way more fun. Come for the live music nights, the all-around good vibes, and the excellent cuts, of course — the dry-aged porterhouse or tomahawk are bound to satisfy.

Homestyle Thai cooking shines at this Greenwich Village spot where you shouldn’t sleep on the khao soi or the duck salad.

We can always get behind an all-day breakfast spot, especially when said breakfast is of the Aussie kind. Goop-approved and delectable, Citizens of Gramercy does smashed avocado toast right, but not just: the cheddar biscuit breakfast sandwich, Belgian waffle, and coffee, of course, deserve as much of your attention.

The joy and vibrancy of Caribbean cuisine is felt in every dish at Cream, a Ridgewood favorite known for its fun vibes and flavor-packed menu. Always start with the pull-apart bread if you know what’s good for you, and don’t miss signatures like the shrimp rasta pasta and oxtail stew.

The newer location of a Greek standby 25 years in the making, Molyvos replicates the original location’s formula (based on filoxenia, a.k.a the Greek style of hospitality) to great success, thanks to a roster of expertly made dishes (grilled octopus, moussaka, grilled seafood, and baby lamb chops), amid a welcoming space of whitewashed stones, family photos, and a seafood-on-ice display.

Perched high across the street from Radio City Music Hall, Duomo51 fits the bill for rooftop season with an impeccable terrace overlooking St. Patrick’s Cathedral. The Italian fare is elegant and refined and the handsome interior ideal for business meals and pre- and post-theater dining.

A cozy little cocktail bar full of vintage mismatched lamps, plants, wood paneling, and dimmed lighting, WarrenPeace is a Tribeca go-to for all your drinking needs, alongside a Mediterranean-ish menu that spans hummus to beef-and-pork kebab. The duck fat parm-garlic fries are the way to go if you’re only looking for a bite.

Only expect the best of the best when it comes to the ocean’s prized black pearls at this caviar boutique and restaurant. Almost everything on the menu comes with a spoonful of caviar, whether layered on lemon-buttery pasta, plopped atop oysters, or scooped up with dessert (in this case, a yuzu pound cake — it works, we swear!).

Mama Fox is the kind of new American bistro a neighborhood comes to rely on, thanks to an ever-changing seasonal menu, a warm staff, and an excellent brunch (looking at you, French toast).

Margaux sits pretty inside the Marlton Hotel, and is a very handsome restaurant indeed with its vinyl booths and wood paneled interiors. The menu pulls from France, Italy, and California, and in the world of hotel dining, this one feels like a proper escape and cozy respite.

Bubbly, neon-lit, and full of florals, Carla is the place for group hangouts and catchups, thanks to a menu that caters to everyone — think Tex-Mex classics, vegan options, and more, though you’ll definitely want to start with a house favorite: their buffalo wings.

Because Black Sea has been operating for over two decades, serving Turkish hospitality and fresh seafood with a lot of heart. Bonus: Hookahs are available upon request.

Those who know come to this little sushi haven during lunch for their incredible and well-priced specials, where boxed maki and seasonal nigiri shine. But Bondi, inspired by the sandy beaches off of Sydney’s coast, doesn’t disappoint at dinner either, where an omakase shows off sustainably sourced catches.

Sky-high seafood towers and bivalves on ice await at this seafood brasserie right off of Times Square, from the same folks behind the Mermaid Inn, the East Village’s favorite spot the kind of food you’d find at a small New England seafood shack.

Because Sofia’s, smack dab on Mulberry, is Little Italy at its best, serving the canons of red-sauce fare, from handmade pastas (the tortellini are heavenly) to perfectly crisp calamari in a convivial, white-tablecloths kind of setting.

For healthy vegetarian fare done with lots of care, let Spring Cafe Aspen take care of you. Just like the Aspen original, the Noho location takes great pride in its sourcing: most everything the kitchen uses is certified organic, for pancakes, baked goods, penne, and so much more.

A sushi hot spot imported from L.A., Katsuya brings its swanky mod looks, specialty rolls, and nigiri à la carte to New York (finally!), to the delight of the Hudson Yards crowd.

When the season calls for drinks with a view, do keep Pearl Alley on your rotation: the (mostly) open air concept parked right by the East River is as handsome as they come, and boasts Brooklyn Bridge views, a great happy hour, and live DJ nights.
