Casa Balam Decatur
Newly added!
In a stunning and glowing space that evokes a northern Mexican hacienda, chef Luis Damian (of Oaxaca in Chamblee) serves a family-friendly menu full of freshly-made tortillas, ceviche, grilled meats and seafood, and a range of impeccable tacos, from beef birria to duck confit.
AÑEJO Lawrenceville
Newly added!
Whether you dine in the beautifully tiled dining room or out on the terrace with its perfect views of historic Lawrenceville, you’ll find a lot to love at this modern Mexican restaurant, where the menu ranges from ribeye chicharron to tortas and tacos, and the cocktails have an agave kick.
Lazy Betty Midtown
Chef Ron Hsu’s first, and very personal, restaurant was defined by its exemplary tasting menu, melding his Chinese roots, Southern upbringing, and honed French techniques. A Michelin star and a new Midtown location later, he and co-chef and -owner Aaron Phillips (also a Le Bernardin alumnus) have expanded with an additional à la carte menu at the bar and an impressive beverage program — wine pairings, mocktails, and curated spirits included.
Okay Anny’s Dunwoody
Suddenly it’s 1989 at this cool but riotously colorful, exuberantly retro speakeasy from the team behind JoJo’s Beloved, semi-hidden in a Dunwoody’s food hall. Expect cosmos and kamikazes galore and a Michael Jackson/Spaceballs vibe.
Politan Row at Ashford Lane Dunwoody
Dunwoody’s Ashford Lane food scene just keeps getting better, and this high-style food hall, opened by the New Orleans-based Politan Group, ups the ante even more. Look for top-flight Thai, Vietnamese, Indian, Italian, and Creole-Mexican purveyors, among others, plus two bars, a vibrant retro speakeasy, and a full-service Cuban cantina.
O by Brush Buckhead Village
Brush Sushi migrated from Decatur to Buckhead Village last year, bringing along its flawless nigiri, specialties from the binchotan grill, and more — but now, chef Jason Liang has added this restaurant-within-a-restaurant, where “O” stands for “omakase,” which translates to a choice of 16 or 25 courses of sheer perfection.
PLANTA Queen, Buckhead Buckhead
Leave it to chef David Lee to reengineer plant-based cuisine for a high-energy, well-heeled crowd. Planta Queen unleashes its meatless brilliance in the shape of a wild pan-Asian menu, where the sushi rolls and wok-fried noodles are as craveable as “the real thing.” Don’t sleep on the cocktails, either.
M by Tasuku Murakami Buckhead
Talk about a dining exclusive: Just three nights a week, chef Tasuku Murakami (who made his mark at The Lobster Club in Manhattan and Atlanta’s own Umi) creates a masterful 17- or 18-course omakase menu, served at a gleaming white-maple sushi bar with only eight seats — an experience you won’t forget.
Prime on Peachtree Midtown Atlanta
You’ll want to spend hours at this two-for-one Midtown place opened by Javarius Gay (of Stix Asian Cuisine): Dine in upscale comfort from an ample, all-American menu (including plenty of steaks), then head next door for more casual indulgences at Prime Cigar, with more things to eat, serious cocktails, a hookah menu, and cigars in the executive suite humidor.
Bar Diver West Midtown
The younger sibling of Richard Tang’s Girl Diver in Reynoldstown, Bar Diver, at Westside Paper, leans towards Southeast Asia with its menu of (mostly) dim sum and other small plates and its array of metropolis-meets-the-tropics cocktails.
Resto L’Antoinette Milton
Fans of the New Orleans-flavored Lagarde American Eatery and il Giallo Osteria & Bar know that Leonardo Moura and chef Jamie Adams go for authenticity — and that’s exactly what this charming French bistro in Milton offers, from onion soup prepared tableside to coq au vin and crème brûlée.
Pata Negra Buckhead
You’d want to come to this family-owned hideaway in Buckhead for the treasury of mezcals and other agave-based spirits alone — but have you seen the craveable menu, which avoids the clichés in favor of panuchos, tlayudas, aguachiles, and other real-deal Mexican fare?
Highness Cuisine Lindridge-Martin Manor
The team behind Octopus Kitchen has converted their high-energy nightspot The G.O.A.T. on Cheshire Bridge into a fine-dining destination that you’ll come back to again and again. Expect a genial atmosphere and a menu referencing Italy, India, China, the Middle East, and the U.S.A.
Cru South Atlanta Morrow
Part of Atlanta entrepreneur and one-time Real Housewives star Dennis McKinley’s ever-growing nightlife chain, Cru is all about fun — hookah pipes and CBDs, a menu of “Cru Tails,” premium bottle service, and a selection of small plates for when the hunger kicks in.
Omakase by Yun Dunwoody
Looking for something special? This is an exclusive omakase bar where Jonathan Yun, a veteran of the Michelin-starred Sushi Nakazawa in Manhattan, offers just two 10-person seatings a night for his 18-course omakase menus, featuring seafood sourced largely from Japan.
B.O.T / Bar of Thailand Midtown
B.O.T actually stands for “Bar of Thailand,” and you’re going to want to get ready: This cheerful restaurant from the proprietors of Tum Pok Pok is making its mark with an irresistible menu of classic and innovative dishes — think chef’s specialties like pad Thai with lobster and marinated grilled chicken lettuce-leaf tacos.
Bar Ti Amo Buckhead
This sleek, glass-enclosed Buckhead stunner from Tuscan native Marco Betti of Antica Posta fame is far more than just a stylish bar: It’s an irresistible all-day restaurant offering everything from bruschetta three ways to pollo alla cacciatora.
Yalda’s Persian and Middle Eastern – Westside Midtown
You’ll love everything at this handsome Howell Mill offshoot of Ash Famili’s crowd-pleasing Sandy Springs original — the Persian and Middle Eastern spreads, the mezze and kabobs, and maybe most of all, the variations on classic tahdig rice, with its irresistible golden crust.
Bovino After Dark West End
Food-lovers know Hero BoVino, inside Hop City Beer & Wine, for its meat counter, specialty foods, and serious sandwiches — but now proprietor Alex Sher and chef Chris McCord (ex-Gunshow) have upped the ante with this intimate weekends-only dining experience that combines a dinner party vibe with a dazzling contemporary tasting menu.
Prefecture Japanese Steakhouse Buckhead
In an intimate atmosphere — dark wood finishes, soft lighting, starburst chandeliers — chef Sean Park (NoriFish) ups the omakase game by interweaving cuts of Japanese and American Wagyu beef with first-rate seafood on his eight-course tasting menus (with à la carte options available).
AltaToro Midtown Atlanta
You’ll definitely want a table at this exuberantly colorful, high-energy Latin American hot spot from the owner of the 5Church restaurants. The fare ranges from tapas to ropa vieja to an occasional whole roast suckling pig, the bar program is agave-heavy, and the music is live — salsa included.
