At this Michelin-starred temple to caviar, the explosive briny pearls are closely dosed by the gram and range from $65 (for Pacific sturgeon) to $600 (that’d be the rare Almas Osetra). Elegant seafood dishes are the vehicle of choice, which you can sample à la carte or via the next-level tasting.

Because chef and owner Soulayphet Schwader (of dhom) is a master of Laotian cooking, and a visit to Khe-Yo is not to be missed. You can’t go wrong with whatever you choose to order here, but we strongly suggest you consider the daily specials and the Nhong-Kai-style pho.

Warm and inviting, Meadowsweet has been a destination for exceptionally good cooking for nearly a decade and for good reason. Chef-owner Polo Dobkin and his wife and co-owner Stephanie Lempert have created a restaurant that’ll make you feel right at home, but always surprising and delighting you with new additions and flavors. Pro tip: Do stop by on Thursday nights when they offer a five-course chef’s tasting menu ($95) with an optional beverage pairing ($45) — the à la carte menu is available, too.

By day, this is Double Yolk, your go-to for all things eggs, and by night, the egg trend continues, only with caviar. After 5 p.m., Double Yolk becomes a luxurious caviar bar where you can — and should — toast with a glass of Champagne.

Located in the heart of the Tin Building on the first floor, this is where you’ll want to go when you’re in the mood for a great glass of wine and some cheese and charcuterie. The wine list here is extensive, spanning from France and the Finger Lakes to California and Maryland, too. 

Because yes, you can have a full-fledged sushi experience at the Tin Building that will not disappoint. All of the rolls and nigiri are great, but don’t sleep on the chawanmushi.

With a dream of a raw bar, this is the place where you want to feast on all things from the sea. Think warm lobster rolls, fresh razor clams, and peekytoe crab salad. 

Proof that vegetarian and vegan food can be thrilling, that’s Seeds & Weeds. Don’t overlook the celeriac katsu, the kabocha squash sourdough, or the chestnut sticky rice with wild mushrooms and shallots.

Should you feel inclined for Italian food on our next visit to the Tin Building, this is a must for pitch-perfect pizzas and pastas. 

New York certainly has a thing for French bistros and brasseries, and this one is no exception. You’ll love the classics like steak frites and French onion soup, but do give some of the contemporary twists a try, too, like the skate meuniere, too.

Jean-Georges Vongerichten is no stranger to combining Asian ingredients and influences into his food and at House of the Red Pearl he looks to China’s culinary traditions for next-level dishes that draw from multiple regions. Think black bean spare ribs, glazed Maine lobster longevity noodles, and stir-fried lamb with cumin and chiles.

Because the reviews are spot-on when it comes to this charmer of a spot tucked inside the Ace Hotel. Chef Markus Glocker takes the best of Paris and Vienna and combines them to delicious effect. Everything’s a hit but do heed our advice and save room for the desserts, especially the caramelized milk bread and the Viennese apple strudel.

New York’s O.G. vegetarian and kosher dim sum restaurant needs no introduction, but for the uninformed, do know that this is one of the best spots in the city for pan-fried turnip cakes and “barbecue pork” rice rolls.

Because what started as a mother-and-son duo bent on delivering a true taste of Sichuanese cuisine out of a strip mall in Pennsylvania has turned into a mini-empire spread across New York and Philadelphia. Han Dynasty has seduced many with its delicately numbing fare, and the dan dan noodles and dry pepper chicken are required eating.

When the folks at Nice Matin realized their burger was something else, they built an entire restaurant around it. Established in 2008 and going strong since, 5 Napkin Burger remains a stellar contender among the city’s best patties, catering to every type of eater (you’ll count a vegan, a vegetarian, a truffle, and a tuna burger), though the namesake remains our perennial favorite — Gruyère, caramelized onions, and a rosemary-garlic aioli. What else could you need?

Because Redeye Grill has catered to Carnegie Hall revelers since it opened in 1995, and the space itself is still worth every visit: think bigger-than-life-size sculptures, an 88-feet mural, high coffered ceilings, and a majestic bar plopped in the middle of it all. Pro tip: Drop by Friday and Saturday nights for live music and always save room for the banana cream pie.

Since 2004, Fornino has been doling out the wood-fired pizza pies New Yorkers have come to adore, from your classic margherita to contemporary standards, like the tartuffo with truffle cream or the coppa e kale, topped with truffle honey and pecorino. Round out your order with some quality burrata and a side of wood-fired Sicilian cauliflower.

Because Za-Ya may have some of the most underrated ramen in the city. One spoonful into their gyukotsu ramen, and all ails are bound to dissipate: The unctuous, marrow-rich-yet-light beef broth topped with braised short ribs and thin noodles is a dish to bookmark on rainy days or when the need for something comforting calls. Don’t skip the unagi pie (eel in puff pastry) either.

Shalom Japan is the fusion cuisine you didn’t know you needed — but will be so grateful for once you’ve tried it. It serves up a blend of Ashkenazi Jewish and Japanese culinary traditions (think matzoh ball ramen, a lox bowl, or Wagyu beef hot pot) that’s hard to find anywhere else, and it will leave you exceedingly satisfied.

Because Patisserie Chanson lives up to the European cafés and French bakeries it’s modeled after, delivering impeccably flaky viennoiseries (don’t miss the seasonal kouign-amann) and desserts. Go for lunch for a world of savory croissants and the very good Alain Milliat juices.

With a kitchen led by chef Kevin McGinley, an alum of Bâtard and Gotham Bar & Grill, expectations are high — and American Brass certainly delivers. The waterfront views don’t hurt, either. Whatever you order, do note the sourdough foccacia with whipped ricotta and rosemary salt is a non-negotiable.

Because Eli’s plucks its ingredients from its next-door market, and the resulting plates are exquisite. (You can tell right off the bat with their bread and butter.) A wine cellar 50,000 bottles deep will amp up dinner anytime.

Always start with some hummus before delving into Bodrum’s repertoire of Turkish hits: plump manti, kebabs (do not skip the beyti, or ground lamb one), moussaka, one perfect lamb shank, and because this is New York, thin crust pizzas, fired in a wood oven.

Since 1977, this family-owned bar has been a favorite neighborhood watering hole, and for good reason. Don’t sleep on the hand-cut fries or the wings.

Because in the world of hotel bars, this one’s mighty pretty: A chic and cushy space for leisurely comfort, whether you’re looking for coffee or cocktails, and everything in between. The menu is short and sticks to the essentials: oysters, your standby turkey club, and one killer burger.

Here’s one for the Midtown power lunchers and dwellers: a sleek, glass-enclosed, and thus light-filled sushi spot, where chef Nakamichi Shinohara shows the breadth of his skill over a multi-course kaiseki that’s one to book for special occasions.

It’s a Prohibition-era-styled cocktail lounge, named for a New York gangster from the early 20^th century, that doesn’t overdo the kitsch but does do drinks — and food — exceptionally well. Do note that from Thursdays to Sundays they’ve got a bottomless bootleg brunch.

This spacious Brooklyn Heights offshoot from Bay Ridge’s acclaimed Ayat specializes in rarely seen Palestinian specialties and favorites, like a rich mansaf, or lamb stew with fermented yogurt, khubz (flatbread) topped with pistachios and cheese, and malfouf, stuffed cabbage rolls filled with rice and ground meat. Be sure to come hungry.

What happens when one of Spain’s most decorated chefs come to town? You get Casa Dani, three-Michelin-starred chef Dani García’s very pretty Spanish restaurant (think hanging plants, mod furniture, tiled terracotta floors) where the glassed-in open kitchen impeccably fires everything from cod fritters to a variety of paella. Pro tip: Go heavy on the Andalusian tuna dishes, they’re excellent.

Because Pisticci is the Italian trattoria every neighborhood wishes they had — a space imbued with warmth every step of the way, where the fresh pasta shines (the namesake penne Pisticci is not to be missed!) and the homemade meatballs, polenta, and brunch are stellar. Pro tip: Keep your eyes peeled for their live music nights (usually on Mondays), and save this one for date night (but not just).
